In collaboration with the Communications Advisor, the Digital Media Manager will build and implement social media strategy and digital communications, primarily, but not limited to, the foundation’s flagship initiatives: Students Rebuild and Bezos Scholars Program. This full-time position is ideal for someone who thrives in a casual office environment with evolving needs, is highly organized, detail-oriented and flexible enough to assume a range of roles: no task is too big or too small! The ability to be both independent and interdependent within a horizontal organization is essential. Most important, this person should be passionate about young people changing the world! Location: Seattle, Washington Reports to: Communications Advisor Position summary and responsibilities: Develop and execute digital outreach strategy/social media campaigns and day-to-day activities. Working with Communications Advisor, create and maintain social media (SM) editorial calendar. Stay abreast of current trends in social media; develop organization and initiative presence(s) in new platforms as necessary. Duties include online advocacy, content development, community outreach efforts and promotions. Develop analytic framework for gauging and measuring success, demonstrating strong proficiency and knowledge of analytic tools. Ability to develop an SEO strategy.
Position summary and responsibilities, continued Manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and other similar community sites, posting/commenting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed. Develop and implement new presences for other foundation brands and initiatives. Regularly create blog/vlog entries for organization presences. Create and publish video/transmedia entries for SM platforms, mobile and web. Make necessary updates and changes to organization website(s) – content and HTML/CSS. Maintain an organized system of tracking, monitoring and prioritizing tasks and projects. Establish measurements and utilize analysis tools to vet the relative success of posts/tweets, campaigns, platforms, etc., making recommendations and delivering key insights than can be used for communications planning. Work proactively and take initiative to support changing needs of the team. Performance expectations: Excellent communications skills, as well as ability to think strategically and boldly while remaining focused on the detail-oriented work of the position. Understanding of and passion for youth leadership and young people taking action. Proven ability to meet multiple, shifting deadlines and priorities while maintaining a perspective on long-term goals. Nimbleness and flexibility a must! Innovative, resourceful and conscientious of organization’s brand and assets. Qualifications: BA/BS or MFA Digital Media, Interaction Design, or related degree. At least four years of online communications experience, including two years of social media experience. Public relations, marketing and nonprofit experience a plus. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Strong project management and analytical skills with attention to accuracy. In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, building online community and best practice usage for nonprofits. Solid knowledge of analytic tools and their applications, including, Google Analytics, Radian6, comScore. Proficiency in SEO strategy and implementation. Solid knowledge of videography and digital editing and authoring tools, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Sony Vegas, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, etc. HTML, CSS, PHP skills; familiarity with CMS. Knowledge of or strong interest in education and youth engagement fields.
