Dear Clan Stirling Students and Families, This year we welcome several students to our classrooms with food allergies. We invite your help and cooperation to help them stay safe. We have students who are allergic to nuts, peanuts and/or products made from peanuts. Reactions range from mild to life threatening (unable to breathe and closing of the airway). A life threatening reaction can occur from skin contact or even, breathing in the air around a contaminated item. There are several practices that will be in place to help prevent allergic reactions: *Students are asked to wash their hands upon arrival in the classroom and again before and after lunch and snacks. *All Stirling classrooms will be designated as (peanut /tree nut) allergy free spaces. There will be no classroom projects with peanut butter or peanut shells. Please do not send any of these projects into the classroom with your child. *Parents who will send a lunch from home for their child are ask to CHOOSE not to send foods containing peanut butter or nuts. *Students may want to bring a snack. If any of these foods are deemed not safe, an alternative “safe” snack will be provided at no charge. *Please call our school nurse, Donna Jordan, at 727-9229 for “allergy safe” suggestions. We look forward to working together with you to have a wonderful year in 7th grade. Sincerely,

Clan Stirling Teachers

“…committed to the health and well-being of every student.”
