Hello everyone! I am Joel Salatin, the owner of Polyface farms. At Polyface, I grow crops and raise livestock using symbiosis and other natural occurring cycles. I focus on raising the best foods in the most environmentally friendly way. Here with me today I have one of my Rhode Island Red hens. She is rotated around my pastures with the other hens in the Eggmobile. The Eggmobile follows the cattle as they graze. In this way, the chickens eat the short-cropped grass that they prefer and they pick tiny microscopic organisms from the cow pats, eliminating the need for pesticides. This is one example of our sustainable farming practices. Everything that our chickens eat goes into their eggs, so we have some of the best eggs you can get. You might have seen me in the documentary Food Inc. Some of you may have even come to Polyface in Swoope, Virginia. My good friend Michael Pollen mentioned me and Polyface in his book, The Omnivore's Dilemma. I have also written several books, including, Folks, This A'int Normal, and The Sheer Ecstasy Of Being A Lunatic Farmer. Most of my books are about sustainable farming and how to farm organically.
