Amigurumi Trophy You will need: 3.5 mm crochet hook Double knit yarn in yellow & black Sewing needle Thick card Poly fibre toy stuffing Small piece of garden cane White yarn (optional) Abbreviations: ch – chain sc – single crochet dec – decrease (single crochet 2 together) st – stitch

Notes: I have worked using American terminology. For UK terminology substitute double crochet (dc) where I have used single crochet (sc). The pieces are made in the round in a continuous spiral without joining after each round. Use a stitch marker if this helps you to know where you started a round. Instructions between two asterisks (*) denote to repeat that set of instruction. Stand: Working in black yarn ch2 and 6sc in the second ch from the hook. (6) Rnd 1: 2sc in each st around (12) Rnd 2: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next st* around (18) Rnd 3: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 2 sts* around (24) Rnd 4: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 3 sts* around (30) Rnd 5: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 4 sts* around (36) Rnd 6: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 5 sts* around (42) Rnd 7: Working in the back loops only, sc in each st around (42) Rnds 8 – 11: sc in each st around (42) Rnd 12: Working in back loops only sc in each st around (42) Now cut discs of thick corrugated card the size of the stand and use to ‘stuff’ the stand. I needed 6 discs of thick card. Rnd 13: *dec in the first 2 sts then sc in the next 5 sts* around (36) Rnd 14: *dec in the first 2 sts then sc in the next 4 sts* around (30) Rnd 15: *dec in the first 2 sts then sc in the next 3 sts* around (24) Rnd 16: *dec in the first 2 sts then sc in the next 2 sts* around (18) Rnd 17: *dec in the first 2 sts then sc in the next st* around (12) Rnd 18: dec around (6) FO and sew in ends. Base of trophy: Working in yellow yarn ch2 and 5sc in the second ch from the hook (5) Rnd 1: 2sc in each st around (10) Rnd 2: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next st* around (15) Rnd 3: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 2 sts* around (20) Rnd 4: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 3 sts* around (25) Rnd 5: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 4 sts* around (30) Rnd 6: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 5 sts* around (35) Rnd 7: *2sc in the first st then sc in the next 6 sts* around (40) FO leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the trophy base onto the stand, stuffing with toy stuffing before it is completely sewn on.
