You must access at once the entirety of the patient, and zoom in on his or her immediate situation. You need to see everything, from lab results to MRI’s, from allergies to prescribed drugs to travel history. And a hundred other things. This difficult task becomes simpler if we think in terms of life’s narrative. Like a diary. Every day, your patient has new experiences, new encounters. He has a test. She gets a scan. You order medications and procedures. So instead of a series of scattered events, your patient’s record is a continuum, a story. Crafting The Story: The Provider Your patient will author normal day-to-day activities, but you, the health-care provider, must provide the rest of the story: orders, pharmaceuticals, treatment plans, the punctuation of the tale. Here is where most EHR’s fail miserably. This is where Apple EHR will excel.
