Tailor Your EHR System to Future Guidelines for Electronic Health Data Exchange Want to provide a robust electronic health records solution for population health management in electronic health record systems? In January 2015 Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) will host the interoperability testing event Connectathon. This event allows vendors a chance to exchange data in according to vetted technical specifications and ensure conformance of their product through independent monitoring. Preparation for Connectathon will be collaborative to aid developers in rapid, efficient development of meaningful and needed solutions to healthcare interoperability challenges. At the Connectathon, you’ll have the chance to work with other vendors and recipients and compare notes on testing before you get to market. An introductory webinar on August 8 will provide you with characteristics of the market and common specifications vendors should implement. Register for the webinar at the IHE webinar website
http://www.ihe.net/Webinars/ Why Connecthon? As the Office of Population Affairs moves forward with the development of systems to enable providers to exchange encounter-level data and report key population health and clinical quality performance metrics, tailoring your EHR systems now will ensure customer satisfaction and ease of use when the mandate comes into place. The Connectathon will speed up the development cycle and improve the quality of end products targeted to healthcare providers that want to improve their outcomes and performance.

About the Program The Title X Family Planning program, administered by DHHS OPA, is the only federal program solely dedicated to the provision of contraceptive and related preventive health services. Each year, approximately 5 million patients are seen in over 4,100 family planning clinical settings in all U.S. states and territories. Key performance and utilization data are compiled into the Family Planning Annual Report (FPAR). Recognizing the need to speed adoption of HIT infrastructure, OPA awarded $4.1 million in 22 competitive grants to Title X clinics in 2013. These grants have helped sites adopt EHR systems, use these systems for billing and quality improvement purposes, and enable meaningful use of HIT. Many OPA grantees are already part of local networks realizing the benefits of quality improvement plans that incorporate HIT-adoption. EHR systems commonly found in the Title X network include Allscripts, Epic, Cerner, Greenway, Netsmart, NextGen, SuccessEHS, and VistA, among others.
