Re: Approval of Admissions of B.Tech Course 2016-17- Order issued Vidya Academy Of Science And Technology Kilimanoor On 01.12.2016 APPROVAL ORDER Vidya Academy of Science And Technology Kilimanoor, in short the College, is one of the members of Kerala Self Financing Engineering College Managements’ Association (KSFECMA) in short the Association. Through the letter dated 02.05.2016, the Association President was directed to submit the prospectus of 2016-17 of B.Tech course of the Member Colleges. In reply through letter dated 09.05.2016, the Secretary of the Association had enquired whether they have to submit the prospectus prior to the execution of the agreement or after the execution of the agreement with the Government. 2. The Admission Supervisory Committee, in short the ASC, repliedthat the prospectus needs to be submitted only after the

execution of the agreement, so as to avoid the repetition of facts and figures both in the prospectus as well as in the agreement approval order. 3. From the G.O (Ms) No. 155/2016/H.Edn.dated 30.06.2016, it is seen that an agreement was executed by the Association with the Government of Kerala on 28.06.2016. Though, the dealing Officer of the ASC, has contacted the President and Secretary of the association, for the Prospectus and the agreement, none of them had submitted the prospectus and copy of the agreement. Hence, both the common prospectus and the agreement dated 28.06.2016, have not been approved so far. 4. The President and Treasurer of the Association met the Chairman of the ASC on 22-09-2016 and requested to exempt the submission of prospectus for 2016 -17 as the agreement is already executed and G.O passed basing on the agreement. 5. In order to save time, and the academic opportunities of the students basing on the GO (Ms.) No. 155/2016/H.Edn.dated 30.06.2016, the approval of admitted students of individual colleges are being processed after scrutiny of the submitted admitted lists. 6. The College has submitted separate list of admitted students in each branch. The Admission Supervisory Committee (ASC) has scrutinised the entire lists submitted by the Institute for various branches of B.Tech Course. The approved candidates are given

7. Two candidates, Viz; Akhil S and Minnu Rwere admitted under NRI quota but did not submit any document. 8. On notice, M/s Madhava Raj, HOD of Mechanical Engineering Department and Sanoj K K, the Office assistant, have represented the college. Both the candidates also are present. Mrs. Radha T mother of Akhil S, Mrs Renuka R, the mother of Minnu R are present. Both the candidates and mothershave submitted that the sponsors have already applied for the documents from the concerned authorities but so far they could not receive them. This statement cannot be accepted. For want of NRI documents, to establish their claim of NRI status, the approval of admissions of both Akhil S and Minnu R are withheld.

9. The AICTE approved five percent of seats within the approved or sanctioned intake for NRI admission. But the College admitted NRI students basing on the GO (Ms) No.155/ 2016/H.Edn. dated 19.10.2016. This is against the AICTE approval provision. However, considering that, the college has applied for NRI approval from AICTE, the committee take a very lenient view and approve the admissions of NRI seats. The approval of candidates for the Academic Year 2016-17, should not be taken as a precedent.
