Ed Bentley – F & GP Vice Chairman’s Message Following from the Tarts & Vicars Dance in February the Bongo drums were calling with YFC members travelling far and wide from across Yorkshire! After another great night at the infamous Bongo we have more to look forward to with County Rally Dance on the 28th May and the YFC do of the North this Year – YFYFC’s Party with the Stark on Saturday 9th July as Yorkshire YFC host Radio 1’s Chris Stark. Tickets go on sale 4th April, order form enclosed!! As many club officers change in the spring the Sub Committees are always keen to see some new faces. Don’t let the name Finance & General Purposes put you off, this is just a small part of what we do. Think more about events, fundraisers & dos! If you’ve got fresh ideas for current or new events come and share them at the next meeting. Have you got an idea for the next summer do?

Mascot Gold Cup! This year YFYFC will be at the Mascot Gold Cup. On 17th April 2016 at Wetherby Race Course.

There are special YFC member’s discounts at less than half price £8 for over 16’s and under 16’s free with an adult!! So why not have a family day out and come and support YFC.

Club of the Month: Calderdale YFC Well! March has been a busy month for the members of Calderdale Young Farmer’s Club. April marks ten years since the formation of our club and we are looking forward to celebrating with our Annual Dinner Dance which we are sure will be a fantastic night! On top of all the preparations, we were lucky enough to qualify through to compete at Northern Area in some sports and speaking competitions, we came away with an overall 2nd in Ultimate Frisbee, qualifying us for National competitions day. One of our members, Charlotte Gibbon also qualified through to the Northern Eliminator day at Retford for Just a Minute, where she was in the winning team, also qualifying to National! County Stockman was also a huge success for us this year with Hattie Noble scooping overall Stockman of the Year! Our weekly club meetings have been going ahead as usual which have included a talk on goat keeping, a trip to the tenpin bowling alley and a speech from our very own Verity Hyland on her trip to India with National Young Farmers, we are hoping this will have inspired some of our members to take part too!

Silsden with Skipton YFC Race Night

NEW CLOTHING RANGE! The D&M committee have been hard at work determining a new clothing range. This has been decided and the following items are available to order from County Office. Hoody – Navy and light grey hood. YFC emblem embroidered on the left breast in silver.

Regatta Jacket – Black with YFC emblem in cerise on left breast. Modelled pictures will appear on Facebook in due course, so please keep an eye out for these. Please see enclosed order form for these products.

Efficiency with Safety What’s involved: This competition requires a team of 4 members. There are 4 tasks as part of this competition and a First Aid element. The tasks include ATV handling, tractor handling and maintenance, plus attaching items to a tractor safely. The idea of this competition is to make members aware of safety around farm equipment and be able to work safely with them. Please contact county office if you would like any more information on this.

Is this a National Competition? YES What skills will we gain? Teamwork, tractor maintenance, health and safety, communication skills plus many more. Gather a team and take part, there’s no harm in trying!
