*August Birthdays* *NAVIGATOR’S NOTES* Worthy Sir Knights, Ladies, and Families, The end of July was a very difficult time for the families, parishioners, and our Brother Knights with the passing of Father Donn Tufts of Montague & Father Phillip Salmonowicz of Muskegon. The Color Corps were very busy and did an outstanding job at the visitation and funerals for both priests. Our Bishop, Most Rev. David J. Walkowiak, was the Celebrant for both masses. Afterwards he thanked the Knights of Columbus for being there and participating in the funerals. If you have not considered being in the Color Corps, please give it serious consideration. We are in need of more members to ensure the high visibility of our Fourth Degree Order. If you are interested, please contact Assembly Commander Bill Bernesser or myself. Vivat Jesus! Faithful Navigator, Jim Walkenhorst

Florida woman stops alligator with a 25 Cal Beretta pistol

Please note: We are always looking for information on anniversaries and birthdays for our ladies so they may also be recognized. Please share with the Faithful Comptroller so we can update our database and thus everyone can be recognized.

This is a story of self-control and marksmanship by a brave, cool-headed woman with a small pistol against a fierce predator. What is the smallest caliber that you would trust to protect yourself? A Beretta Jetfire testimonial.... Here is her story in her own words: "While out walking along the edge of a pond just outside my house in The Villages with my soon to be ex-husband discussing property settlement and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft. alligator which suddenly emerged from the murky water and began charging us with its large jaws wide open. She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive. If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire .25 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today! Just one shot to my estranged husband’s knee cap was all it took.... The 'gator got him easily and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. It's one of the best pistols in my collection! Plus, the amount I saved in lawyer's fees was really incredible. His insurance was the big bonus. I’m comfortable now.

God bless you! Father Tom

Some of the past readings are very sobering! How are we living? Are we living for God? Living with heaven as our goal? Or are our sights fixed on the things of this world? We have all heard these questions before but how serious are they for us? God declares “foolish” the person who lives just for this world. Of course we must walk with our feet on the ground, taking care of ourselves and those who depend on us. But we cannot forget our time here is brief with no promise of tomorrow! “This night your life will be demanded of you,” says the Lord. How many thousands, even tens of thousands of people will die today who thought they had tomorrow? Had many tomorrows? All of this is not intended to provoke fear but to motivate. Motivate us to deepen our understanding of our Catholic faith, to seek God’s will in all things, to see sin for what it is, to let thoughts of heaven inspire us to grow in holiness, to “become the best version of ourselves” as Matthew Kelly puts it. The destiny that awaits us is the consequence of our behavior here on earth. “If a tree falls to the south or to the north, there it will lie.” This is the reason for our Lord’s frequent warnings to be on watch. Death is not an end but the beginning of a new life, an everlasting life. Christians cannot write off or minimize the importance of our earthly life for it is the very means by which we prepare for eternity. To yield a rich harvest before God, we sanctify our life and our use of the gifts we have in this world. Using the gifts, we have to do God’s will out of love for him will bring us that magnificent treasure which neither rust nor moth consumes nor thieves can steal away

*Right to Life Issues*

During the general session on Friday morning of our Michigan State convention, several people asked me about the bb gun sounds of abortion that was played by Brian Cusack of Michigan RTL. I have found that and a couple others while researching. Here are some links, all from You Tube, which include Sounds of Abortion and two others that I found interesting. Sounds of Abortion is the one which was played at the convention. Glasses being filled are tall glasses, possibly vases used for flowers, being filled with objects similar to bb's. Oregon Right to Life put together a video beginning with the year 1973 showing the map of the U.S. As the numbers grow, states disappear.
