A lamp fitting giving a luminous intensity of 4000 cd in all directions towards the board is fixed level with the bottomof the board and 7m away, giving maximum illumination at the centre of the bottom edge. An illumination of 80 lux is required on the drawing boards. Assuming that 60% of the total light emitted by the lamps is available for illuminating the drawing boards, estimate the number of lamps required.[8+8] 8. A locomotive for a city service is proposed to have a scheduled speed of 45 kmph and the distance between the stations is 2.8 km. The track is assumed to be level. Each stop is 30 sec. duration. Using simplified N-T curve, calculate maximum speed. α = 2kmphps; β = 3.2 kmphps. The dead weight is 16 tonnes; rotational inertia is 10% of dead weight.
