2. GENERAL GUIDELINES 1.

All examination papers are of 3-hour duration. The maximum mark is 100.

2.

All examinations are closed book.

3.

The examination is based on all the topics covered in the module and corresponding sections in the prescribed text.

4.

Students must demonstrate insight and ability to translate theory to practice.

5.

Please familiarise yourself with the Examination timetable.

6.

A request for a change in examination venue must be communicated to the MANCOSA registry or examination departments at least 3 weeks prior to the examination.

7.

You must produce your student card and identity document/driver’s licence/ passport on request.

8.

You are requested to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the commencement of each paper. Students arriving late will not be given extra time.

9.

Candidates arriving after the first hour of the commencement of the examination will not be allowed to sit for the examination.

10. The use of cellular telephones is strictly prohibited in the examination centre. These must be switched off before the commencement of the examination session. 11. Candidates are not allowed to communicate with each other whilst the examination is in progress. 12. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination within the first hour or the last 15 minutes of the examination. 13. NO study material is allowed to be carried into the examination centre unless otherwise stated. 14. Answers must be completed in the answer books given. You must ensure that your details appear on the cover page. If you use more than one booklet, please indicate clearly eg. (Book 1 of 3) 15. Please write clearly and legibly using a blue or black pen. 16. All queries must be directed to the Chief Invigilator.

3. SPECIFIC GUIDELINES Business Management 2B Nature and Structure

The FINAL and SUPPLEMENTARY are divided into TWO (2) Sections.

Section A (40%) is compulsory and is based on the case study.

Section A (40%) contains FOUR (4) compulsory questions based on multiple choice, true and false, fill in the blanks, short questions and explanatory notes

Section B (60%) is based on theory and contains FOUR (4) questions from which THREE (3) must be answered.

The FINAL and SUPPLEMENTARY examination consists of TWO (2) SECTIONS.

Section B (60%) contains FOUR (4) essay type questions. Any THREE (3) questions must be answered.

Business Statistics 1T The FINAL and SUPPLEMENTARY examination papers consist of two sections A and B. Both questions in Section A are compulsory. In Section B, students must choose any three questions (out of four). Section A consists of theory type questions, covering all aspects of the course. Calculations in this section are basic and involve raw data. Section B comprises of detailed calculation type questions involving grouped data calculations, probability theory (Binomial and Normal distribution functions), regression and correlation analysis (including scatter-plots) as well as a theoretical knowledge of time-series components, sampling methods, etc.

Information Systems 1T The FINAL examination consists of SIX (6) questions. Students are required to answer any FIVE (5) questions. The SUPPLEMENTARY examination consists of TWO (2) Sections. Section A is compulsory based on a Case study – 40% of the paper. In Section B, any THREE (3) of FOUR (4) essay type questions must be answered.
