BE BODY POSITIVE LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
AUGUST 4-6, 2017 BERKELEY, CA
WHAT: Be Body Positive Leadership Summit
Come together with a diverse group of youth leaders from high schools and colleges nationwide and learn to create a Body Positive culture on your school campus that fosters a celebration of diverse beauty and identities, healthy body image, self-love, and positive relationships with food and exercise.
Schools can be fertile breeding grounds for insecurity, competition, bullying, and isolation... and you deserve better! Because you are inspired to transform your school culture into one that rings of compassion, positivity, acceptance, and community. Because you want to help your peers have positive relationships with their bodies.
WHY:
For the past 20 years, The Body Positive has conducted research-based leadership trainings for students and staff to create compelling, effective Be Body Positive programs on school campuses. We know what we’re doing and we know that it works. HOW:

AT THE BE BODY POSITIVE SUMMIT, YOU WILL:
Engage in self-exploration • Uncover the messages and experiences that have informed your relationship with your body thus far. • Establish yourself as the author of your own story by claiming your birthright as the one and only expert of your unique body. • Use art to inspire new understandings and creative expressions of beauty. • Participate in engaging dialogue, movement, visual art, and storytelling to open the doors to profound self-discovery, a connection with your intuition, and self-love. Learn how to help your peers • Create activism projects to counter the suffocating societal messages we receive every day about how we should look and behave. • Collaborate with other students and adult allies who will support you to create an environment where you and your peers can be yourselves and thrive, free to explore and pursue your interests and passions. • Find inspiration from a variety of teen and adult presenters, educators, activists, and artists. • Gain the confidence and know-how needed to be a leader.
This training will be planned and executed with the help of young people from start to finish. Youth will act as advisors, content developers, and presenters in order to provide an experience that is appropriate and relevant to attendees.
RELEVANCE:
The Body Positive’s cofounders Connie Sobczak and Elizabeth Scott, LCSW, staff, and volunteers, Be Body Positive high school and college youth leaders and staff, as well as guest artists and activists. FACULTY WILL INCLUDE:
