Date: Wednesday, January 24, 2018 Time: 12:30 PM – 2:50 PM (arrive at 12:15 PM) Location: Gym

Q: How much is the midterm worth? 

The midterm counts as TWO unit test grades for the second quarter.

Q: What do I need on the day of the midterm?     

#2 pencils with erasers (many) Blue or black ink pens (many) Small pencil sharpener Tissues and a sweatshirt (it may be cold in the gym) Cell phones & iPads should be left at home. You may not have any electronic devices at your seat.

Q: What is the format of the test?  







Part A: o Multiple choice o Randomly selected from all topics Part B-1: o Multiple choice o Based on experimental design and data interpretation (experiments, tables, and graphs) o Reading comprehension Part B-2: o Multiple choice and open ended questions o Based on experimental design and data interpretation o Reading comprehension o Graphs Part C: o Open-ended questions (short answer and bulleted) o Randomly selected from all topics Part D: o Multiple choice and open ended questions o Based on two State Labs: Diffusion Through a Membrane and Making Connections

Q: Can I ask questions during the test? 

No, you may not ask any clarification questions during the exam. o We cannot tell you the definition of a word. o We cannot read a question to you or explain what it means. o We cannot tell you what a diagram is pointing to. o Take your time, think things through, and do your best.

Q: What do I write with?  

Use a PENCIL to construct a graph, draw a diagram, and complete the scantron. Use a PEN to complete all other written responses.

Q: How can I study for the midterm? 

To memorize information: o Create flash cards or vocabulary sheets. o Read your notes, cover them over, and write out what you can remember. Check your answers and correct what you get wrong. o Make up your own quizzes or study sheets. o Download blank review guides and do them again. o Have someone quiz you using any of these materials.



To learn from your mistakes: o Correct old quizzes and tests. o Create a study sheet of the information you got wrong when someone quizzed you.


