Bosch Farmington Hills/Plymouth FIRST Robotics Internship Program

General Background: The Bosch Farmington Hills and Plymouth sites have an existing summer intern program for college students. In 2015, there were approximately 150 students. For 2016, Bosch will offer a summer internship for a graduating senior from both local Bosch-sponsored FIRST teams. Internship Basics: 

Approximately 8 weeks duration (target is 6/13/2016 to 8/19/2016, flexibility is possible)



Assigned to STEM-related department with pre-identified work projects



Bosch supervisor will assign work, provide guidance and monitor performance



Bosch Buddy will assist in learning Bosch organization, policies, processes, culture etc.



Will be part of college summer internship program and included in all program activities



Will make end-of-internship presentation to management



40 work hours per week (no overtime)



Pay is $12.50 per hour



Must pass drug screen after accepting offer, but prior to starting work



Business appropriate casual attire

Eligibility: 

One intern per FRC team



Graduating senior



Minimum 3.0 GPA



Must be current member of FRC Team 862 or 3414



Accepted to college for Fall semester



Must be minimum of age 18 or provide proof of graduation if not yet 18



Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card)

Application Process: 



Submit completed application package, no later than 4/22/2016, which includes: o

Resume summarizing academic achievements, work history, community involvement and extra-curricular activities

Copy of school academic transcript through end of first semester 2015-2016

o

Maximum one-page summary of involvement specific to FIRST Robotics emphasizing position(s) held and personal achievements

o

Includes letter of recommendation from one faculty member and one FIRST mentor (who is not on selection committee)

o

Essay (no more than 500 words) of how you have contributed to the FIRST concepts of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition

Participate in interviews with selection team members o

Team interview on-site at Bosch or school

Selection Critiera: 

Demonstrated leadership (formal or informal)



Academic Achievement (GPA, awards, class standing, etc)



Contribution(s) to FIRST team success (innovation, technical knowledge, problem-solving, organizational skills, development of others, etc)



Non-FIRST extra-curricular activities (school or community)



Written and verbal communication skills (judged by essay and interviews)
