As you sit back and relax on board your flight to Broome you will come to realise just how big Australia is! On arrival, you will be met by our Coach Captain and Hostess who will be your hosts as we journey down the west coast of Australia. Stay overnight at the Mercure Broome (Ph 08 9195 5900).

Day 4 Wed Aug 30 BLD You will need to wear comfortable, enclosed footwear today and have your hat and sunscreen ready for our visit to the spectacular Karijini National Park. Return to Tom Price and take the opportunity to wander through the shopping centre before arriving back at the motel.

Day 2 Mon Aug 28 BLD Today will highlight the vastness of the region as we travel south on the Great Northern Highway towards Port Hedland. The remarkable growth of this port is due largely to the iron ore boom, making it one of the world's largest mineral ports. The area also produces 3 million tonnes of Solar Salt annually. Arrive late afternoon at the Ibis Styles, Port Hedland (Ph 08 9173 1511) for our overnight stay.

Day 5 Thu Aug 31 BLD Depart Tom Price and travel to Millstream Chichester National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch as you continue to explore back to the coast, arriving in Karratha. This thriving 1970's town expanded when the large North West Shelf gas reserves were discovered. This afternoon, drive out to Dampier and the Burrup Peninsula Lookout before checking into the Ibis Styles Karratha (Ph 08 9185 1155) for our overnight stay.

Day 3 Tue Aug 29 BLD By now it is very evident that the top end of this state is full of spectacular beauty. Today is no exception as you travel eastward to the highest town in Western Australia - Tom Price. Visit Hamersley Pilbara Mine for a specially arranged tour and view the Marandoo Mine site from Western Australia's second highest peak - Mt Bruce. Settle in at Tom Price Hotel/Motel (Ph 08 9189 1101) for the next 2 nights.

Day 6 Fri Sep 1 BLD Travelling via the North West Coastal Highway gives you a chance to marvel at the ground already covered on this tour and what the explorers and prospectors had to endure as they opened up our vast land. Our journey takes us to Exmouth, one of Australia's newest towns, built as a support for NASA's activities in Carnarvon. The town is situated on the North West Cape, which is the nearest point to the continental shelf so there is an abundance of fish and other marine life in the surrounding waters. Take time to view the panoramic views from Vlaming Head Lighthouse before settling in at the Potshot Hotel Resort, Exmouth (Ph 08 9949 1200) for your overnight stay.

Day 7 Sat Sep 2 BLD After breakfast, our journey south continues, stopping at Coral Bay where there is opportunity to take in the great view of the Indian Ocean. Continue on traversing the North West Coastal Highway to Carnarvon. Although communications were important to the area in the past due to OTC and NASA having significant bases in Carnarvon, it is now an important commercial town of the Gascoyne Region. Today it thrives on sheep and beef cattle and major fruit and vegetable irrigated areas. Stay overnight at Carnarvon Motel (Ph 08 9941 0600).

Day 8 Sun Sep 3 BLD After breakfast this morning we’ll visit the Carnarvon Jetty. This historic one mile long Jetty built in 1897, was the first port in Australia where livestock was transported regularly on a commercial basis by sea. A ride on the Ocean Tramway enables you to ride the length of the jetty and view marine life and the mouth of the Gascoyne River. Our journey now takes us towards the World Heritage Listed Area of Shark Bay. Visit Hamelin Pool to see the world’s oldest living fossils - the famous Stromalites, and view St Andrew's Anglican Church built out of the shell blocks from Shell Block Quarry. Overnight at in the most western town in Australia, The Heritage Resort, Denham (Ph 08 9948 1133).

Day 9 Mon Sep 4 BLD An exciting morning is in store as you drive out to Monkey Mia, renowned for dolphin feeding. A visit to Ocean Park Aquarium will allow you to explore the wonders of the ocean during a guided tour. As you depart the Shark Bay area, see the Solar Salt Mines which produce one of the purest grade of salt in the world. Travel through to Kalbarri, where the picturesque setting on the Murchison River estuary is very inviting and offers another opportunity to see some of the local wildflowers in the Kalbarri National Park. Settle in for the next 2 nights at the Kalbarri Edge Resort (Ph 08 9937 0000).

Day 10 Tue Sep 5 BLD Today you will visit the Rainbow Jungle Bird Park, described as one of the wonders of Western Australia. Stroll along the paved brick pathways in the landscaped tropical gardens of the centre with its waterfalls, fountains, stained glass windows, gargoyles and lily ponds. A beautiful relaxing way to spend the morning! Travel on to the Kalbarri National Park for a picnic lunch and spend some time exploring its stunning gorges and formations carved by the Murchison River this afternoon.

Day 11 Wed Sep 6 BLD This morning we travel south via the Port of Gregory and Northhampton before arriving into Geraldton. Enjoy a guided tour of the HMAS Sydney II Memorial at Tarcoola Beach and a guided town tour prior to a picnic lunch. This afternoon visit the Museum of Western Australia – Geraldton, overlooking the Indian Ocean. Settle into the Best Western Hospitality Inn, Geraldton (Ph 08 9921 1422) for our overnight stay. Day 12 Thu Sep 7 BLD Western Australia is renowned for its wildflower season and today will give you an opportunity to see this inland area covered in brilliant carpets of colour. Visit Hi Vallee Farm for a guided tour of the 2000 hectare sheep and wheat farm, where one fifth of it has been left untouched, and contains some of the greatest botanical diversity in the world. Continue on to what will become one of the most memorable parts of your tour. Walk through the Nambung National Park which is home to one of Australia's most unique and captivating landscapes - The Pinnacles Desert. The Pinnacles are the eroded remnants of what was once a thick bed of limestone beneath the sand, ranging in size from twigs to 4 metres high. This unique desert is right on the coastline and is a photographer’s paradise. Stay overnight at the Cervantes Pinnacles Motel (Ph 08 9652 7145).

Day 13 Fri Sep 8 BLD Another great touring day lies ahead as you travel via Moora to New Norcia. The Spanish inspired buildings come as a surprise, surrounded by wheatfields, sheep properties and acres and acres of canola. The whole town was established by Benedictine Monks for a mission in 1846. Resume your travels via Bindoon, Toodyay and on to the beautiful Avon Valley to the town of Northam. This afternoon, arrive in Perth, situated on the Swan River. Settle in for the next 2 nights at the Mecure Perth (Ph 08 9326 7000), allowing time to explore this picturesque city.
