Desirable Qualification/Specialization: Research experience in Palaeobotany/ Micropaleontology/ Taxonomy Job requirements: Curation of mega and microfossils in the museum; overall management and display of museum items and all related work.

Technical Assistant ‘B’ - Group I : (2 Posts, 1 UR, 1 OBC): PB-1 Rs.5200-20200 + GP Rs.2400/- (Age : 30 years) Minimum Qualification: High School with Science with 50% marks or equivalent recognized qualification with 50% marks in the aggregate and ITI certificate of 2 years duration in relevant trade. 3 years relevant experience OR 10 + 2 with Science with 50% marks or equivalent recognized qualification with relevant technical subjects with 50% marks in aggregate and 3 years relevant experience.

Desirable Qualification/Specialization: Experience of working in Paleontology/Micropaleontology laboratories involving maceration/section cutting/ slide preparation etc. Job requirements: Maceration of samples; slide preparation; section cutting; recovery and photography of microfossils and other related work.

Technical Assistant ‘B’ - Group I : (1 Post, Physically Handicapped): PB-1 Rs.5200-20200 + GP Rs.2400/- (Age : 30 years) Minimum Qualification: High School with Science with 50% marks or equivalent recognized qualification with 50% marks in the aggregate and ITI certificate of 2 years duration in relevant trade. 3 years relevant experience OR 10 + 2 with Science with 50% marks or equivalent recognized qualification with relevant technical subjects with 50% marks in aggregate.

Age Limit : For all the posts, the crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date of the receipt of applications from the candidates i.e. May 12, 2017; provided further that the age limit is relaxable by 5 years in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories and by 3 years for candidates belonging to OBC category respectively; age relaxation for PH candidates will be as per Government of India rules; and provided further that in case of applicants already in service in any of the funded Institutions under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, the relaxation of age limit up to a maximum of 5 years shall be admissible.

GENERAL: 1. Mere fulfilling of the minimum advertised qualification and experience requirements DOES NOT automatically entitle an applicant to be called for test and/or interview. 2. All the applications received within the due date in response to this advertisement shall be considered for short-listing by a Screening Committee and ONLY the candidates recommended by the Screening Committee after the necessary approval of the Competent Authority, will be called for test and/or interview. The decision of the Institute on shortlisting will be final and the Institute will not entertain any correspondence in this respect.

3. The number of post (s) may vary. The Institute reserves the right not to fill up any of the posts, if it so decides. 4. Persons working in Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertaking/ Autonomous Bodies should submit their applications through proper channel within due date.

5. Separate applications along with application fee should be submitted for each post applied for. 6. Qualifications, experience and other requirements for any post may be relaxed by the Institute in the interest of Institute requirements towards fulfilling its current research mandate.

Other candidates are required to pay Nonrefundable application fee of Rs. 100/- in favour of the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow through DEMAND DRAFT ONLY drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Lucknow. NO OTHER mode of payment of application fee is acceptable. 9. The appointing authority will satisfy itself that the character and antecedents of the persons proposed to be appointed are such as not to render them unsuitable for appointment. 10. If at any time before or after the selection of a candidate, it is found that any information is suppressed or false; his selection will be liable to be rejected or cancelled. 11. The selected candidates for various posts will be liable for transfer among various Projects/Sections/Units of the Institute at the discretion of the Director. 12. Usual allowances as per rules of the Institute which are on the Government of India pattern are admissible for all posts.
