The 8th International Young Scholars’ Symposium on “Christianity and Chinese Society and Culture” Open for Application Introduction: Centre for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society, Chung Chi College has organized the International Young Scholars’ Symposium since the year of 2002 to provide a platform for young potential scholars from different parts of the world to share and discuss their research work on Christianity and Chinese Society. The Eighth Symposium will be organized on December 12-14, 2016 at Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with Center for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society of Shanghai University joined as co-organizer. As 2016 is our Centre’s 20th Anniversary, we will combine this Symposium with our celebration conference on 12 December 2016. The symposium is now open for application, details are as follows: Eligibility: 1. Student of Research Postgraduate Programme (including MPhil and PhD students), young MPhil, PhD, Post-doctoral Fellow, and faculty with PhD degree and has less than three years of teaching experience from any accredited tertiary institutions and seminaries worldwide; 2. Paper proposed should under the theme of “Christianity and Chinese Society and Culture”. In particular, the co-organizers encourage the papers that dealing with any approaches and topics specified below: Inter-disciplinary approach In larger literary, social, historical or anthropological context Recent field works and empirical research New historical research topics based on primary materials History of science in Sino-Western relations Local and regional social and cultural history in Sino-Western relations 3. Paper proposed must be original and unpublished work written in either Chinese or English language. Once the applicant is selected, copyright of the paper submitted should be assigned to the co-organizers of the symposium for future publication. Application: 1. Applicant should submit a completed application form with a brief Curriculum Vitae, full paper (in no more than 10,000 words) proposed to be presented at the symposium and abstract (in about 500 words) by mail to CSRCS, Rm 15, 1/F, Chung Chi College Administration Building, CUHK, Shatin, N. [email protected]; 3. Deadline for application: July 31, 2016; 4. Result would be announced on September 15, 2016. On a condition that participant attends all scheduled academic activities throughout the symposium, partial subsidy for traveling expenses and accommodation would be available for successful non-local participant.
