single window system has been implemented with banks to do away with delays in commencement pension payments inherent in the earlier system. In brief, the scheme 9f envisagesthat Railwayswill hand over the PPos issued during a month to the nominated nodal branch of the respective banks (located at the He or ppo issuing Railways) by 5tn of the following month. The nodal branch is responsible to forward it to their concernedcentralised ' Pension Processing centre (cPPc) by rotr of the following month so that the cppc can colnmence pension w'e'f' last day of-the- following month. The scheme has already been implementedwith zz banks and remainingbanks ur"ir.rdu, f.ocess of implementation. ii' Further, at present, the pensioneris called to the bank for submissio.,ofun undertakingabout recoveryof excess/overpayments before commencementof pension. In ord.erto obviate delays in the process of commencementof pension on this accoint, Board , vide letter no. F(E)III /zoo8/PNr/r3 dated L7.g.2o:,5,has lssued instructions that requisite undertaking may be obtained by HoD from the retiring employee before his retirement and forwarded to pension disbursing bank along with PPo by the Accounts officer. The pensioner would no longer be required to visit the bank to activatehis first payrnent orfurrrioo. iii' In addition' it is planned to issuee-PPos to the banks under the centralisedpensionapplication (ARPAN) which do away with the delays atog"ii"r.- The same is being tested and is Y"gd expectedto be rolled out by end of this year. Railwaysare being advisedto strictly follow the instructions and monitor tim"ry commencement of pensionto the staff. iv' RBI was also addressed to iirect thebanl
