Charlotte Aquatic Center History The Charlotte Aquatic Center was designed and constructed as a multi-use facility for people of all ages. It is more than just a physical education “teaching station” for the Middle School students. The main pool can simultaneously accommodate physical education students from the Middle School and High School, lap swimmers, and adult water fitness classes. The adjacent exercise pool is used daily for therapy patients from Hayes Green Beach Hospital, special needs students and adults, adult exercise classes, and personal training and independent water exercise. The entire facility is climate controlled, including air-conditioned student and separate adult locker rooms and a family changing area. The main pool is a chlorine pool and has a balcony seating for 250 people, a shallow swim area with underwater benches, and a lap swim area. The exercise pool is maintained at a higher water and air temperature and is equipped with an underwater bench and jets for spa capabilities. The facility was dedicated in 2004 by the Charlotte Public Schools Board of Education, with “pride and gratitude” to Eldred P Toutant. “Tout” as he was known to all, was a teacher, coach and administrator with Charlotte Public Schools for 42 years, retiring in 1989.

WATER EXERCISE CLASSES Warm Water Workout

This class focuses on flexibility, mobility and strengthening your whole body to make everyday living easier and more comfortable. Natural buoyancy of water makes this exercise class so much easier! Exercise programs that take place in the water are total body workouts that are easy on the joints & helpful to those with arthritis. This class meets in the warm water exercise pool

Warm Water Arthritis

Come join our slow paced, warm water course that focuses on flexibility, range of motion, and joint health. Most forms of arthritis with differing degrees of severity can be helped with water exercises because movement that may be painful on land can be stimulated in the water with far less stress on the joints. The warmth of our therapy pool, buoyance and resistive properties of water can help.

Deep Water Dynamics

This course provides all of the benefits of our warm water class, but without the impact of your knees and ankles. Flotation devices are used, and water resistance helps melt away calories and strengthen muscles. This course takes place in the competition pool.
