The purpose of this issue of our lodge bulletin is' to preserve for posterity in some measure the accomplishments of our lodge up to the time of the dedication of our own building. less than two years ago Bullhead City had no Elks lodge. But a dedicated group of Elks who were members of other lodges saw the need, and through their diligent efforts Bullhead City lodge #2408 was instituted on February first 1969. This institution took place in rented quarters. Our meetings from that time were held in quarters that were generously Shores. The need for our own building was rapidly becoming critical.
donated
by Holiday
Slightly less than one year ago we held our first meeting in our own building, which at that time was a bare, unfinished shell. The untiring efforts of the Officers and members of this lodge immediately began to bear fruit. Every week showed progress. The exercise of the cardinal principles of our order, Charity, Justice, Brotherly love and Fidelity, have resulted in the building we now have. I cannot help but feel proud to be a member of this lodge. We have accomplished much. But regardless
of what we have accomplished
I foresee
an even greater
future
for this lodge.
The support given to me this past year is ample assurance that the officers following me will lead us to more and greater accomplishments. I am deeply grateful that this support was given to me.
•
A very special thanks is given to our ladies! Their support and assistance was invaluable. Over and over again our ladies have come to our aid in many ways, too numerous to mention here. At no time was it necessary to ask for their help. (It was always generously volunteered!) In many instances, under severely adverse conditions, they have contributed much to bring us to our present status. In conclusion,
we can All be [ustly proud of our accomplishments. Fraternally

sponsored a Senior league
Baseball Team during the summer of 1969. The
boys, a team of 18 players, traveled to Kingman weekly to play in the league formed in Kingman. These youngsters made a very good showing in their first year and were a credit to the Elks, as well as the
riA!~Jhe-regular school year of 1969-70, the Bullhead City Elks, under the direction of Exalted Ruler . Herbert Ricketts, went to the various schools in our community and gave a prepared program on the American Flag. The lodge voted to award a $25 Savings Bond to the elementary student who wrote the best-essay on the topic: "What The American Flag Means to Me." To make the contest even more meaningful, the contest was partitioned into two divisions: one for the 5th and 6th grades and one for he 7th and 8th grades. The winner of each division would receive a $25 bond. The judges of the essays were to pick three places in each division and these were to be sent to the Arizona EII
