DHSC POOL RULES 1. Only members, their guests, and approved DHHS affiliates may use the pool during DHSC lap swimming sessions 2. Swimmers must check in with lifeguards before entering the pool 3. Swimmers must heed lifeguard instructions 4. Swimmers must always be aware of and courteous to other swimmers 5. Swimmers must inform other swimmers of their intentions 6. Swimmers must know and practice common swimming etiquette 7. Speed segregation of lanes is enforced – swim in the appropriate lane 8. No eating or drinking in pool area, other than plain water Failure to follow these rules may result in termination of membership

Observe lane activity and inform all swimmers in lane before entering All laps run counterclockwise - stay to the right When standing at the wall, stay in a corner away from approaching swimmers Slower swimmers must yield to faster swimmers Faster swimmers indicate a wish to overtake by firmly tapping the feet of the swimmer being overtaken 6. If your feet are tapped, stop at the end of the pool in a corner of the lane and allow the faster swimmer to pass 7. At the end of a length, check for faster swimmers coming up and wait for them to push off first, regardless of foot tapping 8. Do not pass in the middle of the lane if more than two swimmers are sharing the lane 9. If you are the slowest/fastest swimmer in a lane, and it is possible and makes sense to do so, move to a slower/faster lane 10. Do not use other people's equipment 11.
