For the information and guidance of all concerned, attached is a letter from ANGELINA DAVID ENCARNACION, Club President, LY 2017-2018, Quezon City, dated November 3, 2017, re: "DIABETES AWARENESS DAY INVITATION", content of which is self-explanatory, recommending favorable action. 2. School Principals are highly encouraged to send fifty (50) students accompanied by their adviser to the said undertaking on November 23, 2017, Thursday (6:00 A.M. Onwards) meeting place at the Matalino St. cor. East Avenue near Sulo Hotel, Quezon City. Parents' permit of the students is required. 3. Appropriate precautionary and safety measures should be instituted by the principals in sending their delegates to this activity. 4. Particular attention is invited to paragraph No. 4. 5. GREETINGS! We are happy to inform you that as a result of our initial meeting and eventual agreements, our club successfully conducted the Sight for Kids eye screening training last October 25, 2017 with 77 teachers and 24 medical personnel in attendance. In addition, a Drug Abuse Prevention Education for student leadersof Jose P. Laurel Sr. High School in Project 4 has been scheduled for November 28, 2017. We shall train and assist peer educators and student leaders on the manner ofconducting seminars to prevent the abuse of drugs within the school community and to organized the Barkada Kontra Droga in their school. We have likewise successfully concluded the initial phase of the Lions Club Peace Poster-Making Contest where students from three (3) high schools from the third congressional district participated. The winner came from Jose P. Laurel Sr. High School. The winning entry shall be submitted for possible consideration to the Lions Clubs International Search for a chance to receive more valuable prizes. Lastly, we seek to confirm your commitment to send seven (7) busloads of teachers and learnersto the Diabetes Awareness Day, that was originally scheduled for November 14, 2017 but had to be moved to the 23rd of November 2017, to give way to the ASEAN Summit set for November 13 to 17. The day's activity will start at 6:00 a.m. with the Diabetes Awareness Walk beginning at the corner of Matalino Street and East Avenue going towards the Quezon Memorial Circle. A Zumba session will then follow before the forming of a Human Blue Circle, the international symbol of Diabetes Awareness. We encourage the teachers and learners to wear something light blue in color for the formation of the Human Blue Circle, as this will be documented and photographed for the world to see. We hope the teachers and learners can be among the largest contingent during these early morning activities of the day.
