Turning Point Rural Housing Project, our Transitional Housing Program, served 77 clients (34 adults and 43 children). Northeast Iowa Permanent Housing, our Permanent Housing Program, served an additional 22 clients (14 adults and 8 children).

Cedar Valley Friends of the Family provides safe shelter, confidential support, and housing assistance to individuals and families in crisis due to homelessness, domestic violence or sexual assault. Through prevention education and community engagement we seek a future free of violence and homelessness.
Prevention Education
Turning Point Rural Housing Project
Emergency Safe Shelter Eligibility: Victims of domestic or sexual violence whose safety is at-risk are eligible. These services can include:
Permanent Housing
Program Goals:
Up to 30 day stay
Basic needs
Crisis counseling/support group
Case management
Legal and medical advocacy
Referral and information
Each applicant must meet HUD’s definition of homelessness and must be a resident of our nine county service area for at least six months out of twelve months prior to the date of intake. Participants are required to:
Hotel Vouchering: 1-2 night stay in a local hotel
Work a minimum of 15 hours per week
Case management
Attend counseling
Coaching Boys Into Men—A sexual assault and dating violence prevention program which uses varsity male athletes’ leadership role to model healthy behaviors to their peers.

Bystander Training —The training which utilizes a “bystander approach” will give the audience practical tips on what to do when they know that something just isn’t quite right.

Eligibility:
Stewards of Children, Darkness to Light— A child sexual abuse prevention program aimed at adults with significant interaction with children. The program gives tips on how to reduce the likelihood that a child may become the target of sexual abuse.

Bully Proof—A bullying program aimed at middle school students. Students identify bullying behaviors and plan how to deal with bullies.
Love is Not Abuse— A teen dating violence prevention program aimed at high school students, which promotes communication, boundaries, and healthy relationships.

Take Charge of Your Body—A child sexual abuse prevention program aimed at elementary students. Students will identify sexual abuse, and practice a safety plan to use if they are being touched inappropriately.
