The Office of the Dean of Faculties announces the kick-off event for the
Faculty Mentoring Development Series for the 2015-16 "Creating a Mentoring Culture" Successful faculty members often share stories of the mentoring relationships that contributed to their achievements. These accounts demonstrate that mentoring relationships play an important role in faculty success. They also lead to questions such as: How do early career faculty find mentors? How do experienced faculty members identify skills and practices to be effective mentors? What are reasonable expectations of mentors and mentees? What are the advantages of mentoring relationships for both mentors and mentees? How do faculty successfully incorporate mentoring relationships into their busy schedules? In an effort to expand the mentoring culture of Texas A&M University, The Dean of Faculties has planned six sessions on various aspects of mentoring for the 2015-2016 academic year. Provost and Executive Vice President Karan L. Watson, known for her personal interest in and commitment to mentoring, will kick off the series by sharing her thoughts on the characteristics of a strong mentoring culture for faculty achievement in every aspect of the scholar role. All faculty are invited to join this year-long conversation. Registration information and titles of additional sessions in the series are listed below.
