November 20, 2013 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For more information contact: Stan Mack Superintendent of Schools Oshkosh Area School District 920-424-0160 OSHKOSH AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT INSTALLS NEW BUILDING ACCESS SECURITY SYSTEM AND PROCEDURES In our ongoing efforts to enhance student and staff safety, the Oshkosh Area School District is pleased to announce that a new door access system for all schools and district facilities has recently been installed. This system will allow the district to secure entry doors during the day regulating access to district facilities. The door access system consists of a security camera and remote door release system that will allow building staff to monitor those who wish to enter district buildings. All visitors to school facilities will be required to request access by pressing a button on the entry camera panel. A staff member will welcome them to the building and inquire as to their name and purpose of the visit prior to releasing the door. Once access has been granted, all visitors will be required to report to the school office or designated area to obtain a visitor badge. Entry doors will remain open before and after school to handle the large volume of students and parents as they enter and exit for the day. High School doors will be open to facilitate the students who leave and return during lunch times. During all other times the entry doors will be secured. Staff are currently being trained on how to use the system and the district will implement these new procedures starting Monday, November 25, 2013.
