MAY 2017 Vol. III

In the last art exhibit, only people from art class came and not anyone else. -Malak Abdulrahim, G8

Plastic is becoming a huge problem and it’s up to us to solve it. Why not

start to bring a reusable water bottle? Or how about swapping the plastic spoons and forks in the cafeteria with silverware? This is very easy to do, however, it will use up some money. But it will be a first step in helping out environment!

I think everyone in this school is mature enough to end bullying or to think about important topics. School is supposed to be about expanding one's mindset and helping them prosper and grow. Therefore people in Middle school should focus on helping each other, other than putting each other down. -Raghad Elwali, G6

-Anas Qneibi, G7 Being tired at school stinks. If you yawn due to being exhausted, the teacher thinks immediately thinks that you are not paying attention. Teachers should realize that yawning is involuntary and not a student attempt at rebellion. -Adam Ruder, G7

Middle school assemblies are very different from high school assemblies, making it unfair for us. If you are asking why, it’s because high school have more fun activities and they’re always hyped, which makes it fun. They had a lip sync battle last assembly. Meanwhile, we always have to stay quiet and we barely have activities. The only activity last year was dodge ball. We never did anything else.

People say we look like our parents, when we believe we don’t. This is because, as children, we mimic the actions of the people we live around. Isn’t this amazing? Even as children we are influenced by the society and culture around us. However, when we grow up our actions become even more persuaded by people around us. In conclusion, we are never truly ourselves, from birth to death. -Fatima Mahnoor, G8

We should show middle schoolers it can be fun. -Natasha AlKurdi, G8 Art has always been a safe space for me. Whenever I am mad, sad or stressed, I pick up a

I like school because it is nice to learn new things and it is so fun having new friends. What bothers me is that in school there are lots of bullies that make fun of people and I feel so bad for those people and I would like to stop that. -Zayan Mikati, G6

pencil and I draw. The moment I plug in my earphones and pick up a pencil or pen, the real world and its problems fade away and I feel safe. I hope

everyone else has something that makes them feel safe. -Sarah Shafzan, G7

Why do we need social studies? I mean, all the people are dead anyway. And it’s not like we are ever going to use it in our

life. No offense, Mr, Barash.

I hate that in independent reading I can’t read on my iPad. iPads are very helpful. On our iPads we could find any book in seconds. We should be able to read on our iPads because they are fast, save time and are easy to use. -Souheil Sinno, G8 My house is about twenty minutes away and while I am on the way to school there isn’t a lot of traffic but the ride is boring. I put music on and then I try to sleep but my driver does not stop dancing and singing with the song, so I can’t sleep. -Fares Tadfi, G7

-Karim El Sharif, G6

I don’t like how our school is the only school that does not have a day off for vacation when there is a sandstorm. We go to school and we are basically trapped inside in a room or a gym for hours and I think that is not fair. -Rachid Elasmar, G6

I think that having school in really bad weather (sandstorms and floods) is a bad idea, especially when the Minister of Education cancelled all schools. I get that we have to have a certain amount of school days, but isn’t virtual day technically the same thing? The worst part is that many people have allergies to sand or parents won’t let them come to school, but teachers still give tests/quizzes that day. -Shahla Maddah, G7

How come our middle school assemblies are so serious and quiet? We just get certificates and leave. All we do is sit quietly and teachers keep sushing us and give us five. We are middle schoolers but are being treated like elementary schoolers. When we performed cheerleading dances, we tried to make it fun but instead everyone looks dead and afraid to speak. On the other hand, high school assemblies are lit! They sing, do karaoke, play around and have fun. The principal and teachers are so chill with it all. Their assemblies are full of music, laughing and fun while ours are full of never-ending shushing.

I think everyone should get to read “The Help”. The book focuses on the trauma of African-Americans, specifically maids. It shows that racism is taught but if people were

I really don’t understand why so many people enjoy wasting their time.

If you were given

$84,000 a day, you would spend it all. However, when given 84,000 seconds, people seem to underestimate its value.

Every day you don’t

pursue your dreams is two days you’ll have to work to achieve your dream in the future.

I hate it when an author tries to rush through the ending of a book. About a week ago, I read this book called Double Act by Jacqueline Wilson and I felt like she rushed through the ending. The problems started in the last chapter and the didn’t even have a proper happy ending, but I think other Jacqueline Wilson books are very interesting and fun. You should definitely try at least 1 book.

-Layana Tabbakh, G6

Stress. It is a big part of our life. It happens almost everyday to everyone. For example, right now I am stressing about writing this message. Yet every time I stress I remember I have these things that calm me down.

I think of my family, my friends, or about

anything funny. I listen to music because it helps me

forget about everything happening.

I don’t like how people think that if you are a Barcelona fan or a Real Madrid fan, you can’t like the other team. Soccer is about respect and competition. You still have to be a god sports about it. -Omar Mourad, G7

Stress may

sound like a huge issue, but in reality it is not. So, every time you get stressed think about whatever may calm you down and remember that everything will be
