New modular classrooms at Daybreak, Tukes Valley and Pleasant Valley
One of 11 sections that compose a new modular classroom building is swung into place on the Pleasant Valley campus Thursday, July 25.
A new 10-room modular classroom building will be installed at the Daybreak schools Tuesday, July 30, just five days after a tenplex was set in place on the Pleasant Valley campus. A third 10-room modular was delivered to the Tukes Valley campus several weeks ago. The new modular classroom buildings will alleviate overcrowding and provide for future growth. In addition, installation of the Pleasant Valley modular means an end to the septic-system era at that campus. Old
modulars were served by septic systems even though the main school buildings are on sewer, as will be the new modular. These are the most visible of several summer projects in the Battle Ground School District. Among other projects are parking lot resurfacings at Maple Grove, Capt. Strong and Glenwood Heights schools and bleacher replacements in the Prairie High School gymnasium. All three new modular structures will have 10 classrooms, restrooms and custodian’s storage area. They were built by Blazer Industries of Aumsville, Ore., delivered by Bennett Trucking of Woodburn, Ore., lifted into place by Campbell Crane and Rigging Services of Portland and installed and prepared for occupancy by Acc-U-Set Construction of Washougal. Williams Scotsman of Portland is the general contractor. Josh Joner, the school district’s facilities manager, was on the scene at Pleasant Valley Thursday and said the plan is to have the modulars at all three campuses ready for the start of the school year. However, he cautioned that it could be a close call at Daybreak, the last of the three to be installed.
After each of the sections is placed, the roof is raised, as seen here.
