‘NATO Blues’, ‘Refugee’ and ‘Ecuador’ by One Earth One Year ago on September 26, 2017, we released our first song and corresponding music video entitled ‘NATO Blues’. This was in response to the inspirational quotes regularly posted by Tom Feeley from Information Clearing House (ICH) above his near daily news feeds, it was in response to the urgings of Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, Philip Giraldi, John Pilger, the Saker, etc. who continually urge their readers to have a voice, to speak up, to do something, anything against the spreading oppression of the “empire”. And so it is that after 26 years I stepped away from my law practice to focus on an artistic/musical component to the alternative print media. It wasn’t a difficult decision as I had reached a point where the practice of law no longer satiated my spirit (if it ever had) or my economic well being. Plus, I watched in disappointment as the American Bar Association, the California Bar Association and every bedrock of the judicial community stood near silently by as precious and long-standing constitutional rights were slowly eviscerated by the Patriot Act, the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act), court rulings and related judicial acquiescence. I spent my years fighting in the trenches for the injured and oppressed, but in the end, being immersed in the constant acrimony which is any legal battle, left me emotionally drained and in search of an alternative way to support my family. I will say this, contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of my colleagues on the bench and on the bar, were fair-minded, reasonable and professional practitioners who took pride in their chosen profession. Upon the release of ‘NATO Blues’, one of the first recipients was the Saker and this is what he had to say about it: “This video is so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you the composers and interpreters? Where are you based? Can you tell me more about you? I loved it so much I immediately posted the video here: http://thesaker.is/nato-blues-by-one-earth-absolutely-beautiful-video/ Thanks so much! The Saker PS: I am also a musician - I play acoustic jazz guitar :-)”
He posted the attached video on his sight, as did Lew Rockwell, Angie Tibbs from Dissident Voice, a few others and ultimately Tom Feeley from Information Clearing House, which as a consolidator of the various alternative media voices, was the holy grail of my target community. I offered a post for Mr. Feeley whereby he could advise his readers that the profits from any iTunes purchase of our song would be split evenly with him, but as is his tenant to keep any advertising (even quasi) from his site, he politely refused, but he posted our video front and center on his page. Trouble is, with all that initial exposure and with 1.5 million viewers per
month coming through ICH alone, the amassed views on our YouTube channel were decidedly underwhelming. Perhaps due to the controversial nature of the material, YouTube has intentionally withheld the true number of views as it has been accused of before. After all, I posted the video on Liveleak around the same time and within 24 hours, it was deleted and my account blocked for life - as noted by a commenter on the Saker’s site: “Live leak have just removed for ‘possible violations of our terms of service’. Mission creep. I’ve noticed definite signs of increasing censorship on the net – this is the fourth in a week.”
Another person who viewed ‘NATO Blues’ on our YouTube channel had this to say about it: “THIS deserves millions of clicks. A message of truth served with beautiful music - love it!”
And speaking of the Saker, because of his initial comment to me, I reached out to him and asked if he’d like to play a solo on our second song/video entitled ‘Refugee’. He’s a very decent and rather humble individual when it comes to his music, but invariable he agreed and his contribution was both stunning and beautiful. Another musical great, Byron Bordeaux, fronts for Jimi Hendrix with the modern incarnation of the Band of Gypsies and tours the world with Buddy Cox and Buddy Miles (the original bass player and drummer for Band of Gypsies). Ironically, it was Byron’s voice and not his guitar that lent such subtlety and authentication to ‘Refugee’. And with regard to ‘NATO Blues’, Frank Sinatra’s drummer and musical collaborator Frank Devito lent his percussion talents to this track, we have a Frank Sinatra clone singing the second vocal verse and several extremely gifted kids ages 15, 12 and 10 assisting on percussion and vocals as well. Our third song entitled ‘Ecuador’ was similarly sent out to various parties including Angie from Dissident Voice who had this to say about it: “I have listened to this track over and over. The concept is, in a word, brilliant. It has
everything -- the undisturbed rain forest, the birds, the rain storm; one can feel and see the peace and beauty. Then the evil of big oil with its greed paramount, and finally the after effects on the environment and the people. Powerful doesn't cover it, but it's a start. My emotions ranged from acute rage to floods of tears. This is about Ecuador, but it's applicable to every corner of the globe where these vultures make an appearance. How they are getting away with it time and time again makes a mockery of laws, courts, justice.”
All of the above quotes are very flattering and we’re grateful beyond words for the initial help, but our mission is vastly unfulfilled. The three songs and corresponding videos are profound and great works of art. We’re not kids trying to be rock stars, we’re a social movement adding an artistic component to the myriad of talent who continually lend a written one. Some of these talented writers not already mentioned include Israel Shamir, Stephen Lendman, Finian Cunningham, Pepe Escobar, Robert Parry, Noam Chomsky, Alexander Mercouris, Stephen Cohen, Moon of Alabama, Mike Whitney, Veterans for Peace, Ray McGovern and Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, and everyone else who contributes to the common good of us all by spreading the word of truth over a sea of lies. We are One Earth and we stand by and for this community and anyone who strives by way of their beliefs or daily endeavors to move the world beyond the precipice upon which it currently sits. We don’t ask for your money, but we do ask for your help. Please view our videos, comment and/or subscribe to our YouTube channel, share our work with your family, friends and colleagues. This will enable us to continue with our work and remain a viable artistic supplement to the written word of peace, fellowship and goodwill for all. Our videos are five minutes on average, but if you don’t have any interest after the first 20 seconds, then please, turn it off. However, if you do, then by all means watch the three that are attached and stay tuned for our forthcoming releases ‘Walls’ and ‘Going Nukleer’ (as in nuclear) part of which can be viewed on our YouTube channel and features our young and brilliant musical talent Maxx Henry - https://www.youtube.com/user/maxxhenry: ‘NATO Blues’ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fo4PadiA6Y ‘Refugee’ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-PB20ZAEp4 ‘Ecuador’ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZlz0dZWd3w Youtube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd19GHBC2ZemsjIh1b0MO_w
