COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST Looking to combine your strong communication skills and media savvy with your desire to make a difference in the world? Futures Without Violence, a national non-profit and social change organization that works to end violence against women and children around the world, has recently moved into a state-of-the-art international conference and education center in the Presidio of San Francisco. We’re a team of educators, strategists, fundraisers, trainers and grass roots organizers who develop programs that can change social norms and prevent violence against women and children. We’ve also taken the lead in national programs that prevent bullying and relationship violence among teens. We’re looking for a strong and seasoned Communications/PR Specialist with great media relationships, excellent writing abilities and oral communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven individual adept at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, and will work collaboratively with a highenergy group of individuals who are passionate about programs, policies and social action campaigns. We’d like you to be an avid social media user and have significant experience preparing content for websites and blogs, as well as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. This is an exempt position located in our home office in San Francisco, California. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Communications/Public Relations Specialist is responsible for: •
Working closely with Director of Communications to secure media coverage in national and local markets and coordinate media interviews.

Generating content for website and social media outlets, press releases newsletters, executive bios and briefing materials that convey strong and effective messages needed for various initiatives.
•
Consistently identifying traditional and unique outlets for local and national media coverage, including TV, radio, blogs, newspapers, newsletters, trade publications and more.
•
Pitching local and national media on new data, initiatives, programs, and events.
•
Identifying PR opportunities with our alliances and partners.
•
Tracking and reporting on all media coverage.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: The candidate must hold a BA/BS in Communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field with a minimum of 4-5 years of communications experience. In addition, s/he must possess personal initiative and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse, multi-cultural team. The individual must have strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and writing skills and the ability to exercise effective professional judgment. S/he must possess the ability to communicate effectively and establish relations with other staff, consultants, partners, etc. Requirements: • BA/BS in Communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field with a minimum of 4-5 years of communications experience – some PR agency experience preferred •
