Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) is the largest Pre-Health Honor Society in the nation, and the Florida Alpha Chapter is one of the largest and most active chapters. AED’s main goals include preparing the student for professional school, providing community service, and serving as a social outlet for students with common interests. Directors are the heart of AED, planning and running every event that AED organizes. As a director, you will gain leadership skills and the ability to work in a pair, team, and organization. Prior experience is not needed. We look for highly self-motivated, independent workers and those willing to go above and beyond for AED. To become a director, an applicant must have: 1. Completed his/her Electee Semester 2. Completed the application as directed and turned in on time 3. A successful interview with current AED executive board members 4. A minimum overall G.P.A. and Science G.P.A. of 3.2 Expectations: 1. Complete all director requirements (Attend ALL director meetings, general body meetings, and his/her division events, 1 Fiscal, 2 Social, 2 Intramural, 2 PR, and any overall AED requirements e.g. Diabetes/Relay for life) 2. Must be able to attend Directors Swap Saturday April 25th 11AM-1PM (Location TBA). Required to attend Directors Orientation (TBA), Director’s Day (TBA), assigned Open Exec Meeting in Fall 2015 (exact dates TBA), and weekly office hours. 3. AED General Body Meetings are biweekly on Thursday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend these meetings, you will be ineligible for a directorship this term. AED depends on clear communication at these meetings. Please be advised when selecting classes for Fall 2015 classes and try your best to avoid Thursday night labs, etc.
Director Application This packet consists of an information sheet, division descriptions, and an applicant form. To apply as a director of Alpha Epsilon Delta, one must: 1. Complete the online application form as directed. 2. Print and bring your completed application to your director interview. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS THURSDAY April 9th, 2015 at the 5th General Meeting. 3. Sign-up for an interview online (in the AED web shop) after submitting a completed application. Interviews will be held on Friday April 17th from 5PM to 9PM and Sunday April 19th from 11AM to 4PM in HPNP room G-108.

Health Extern: A division for only initiated members that are dedicated to providing members with application information, connections, and pairing up AED members with health professionals around the community for shadowing.

Intramurals: Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Indoor Volleyball, and Soccer.

Fiscals: Directors are the core of AED fundraising and they help to raise money for division budgets and socials while keeping dues low. Directors work with Centerplate and all of AED to work concession stands at the University of Florida football, basketball, and baseball games in the Fall.

Socials: Directors plans events for the members and electees of AED so that they may have a fun, relaxed atmosphere in which to better meet each other.

Diabetes: The Diabetes division is active in the Fall semesters. This division includes various fundraising events culminating in a 5K run at the end of the semester, which raises money for the Florida Diabetes Camp.

Public Relations: Promote and manage communication between AED and the public. PR helps AED gain exposure and promotes the overall well being of AED. Duties include, but are not limited to: working on Electee Recruitment, fundraiser publicity, maintaining list-serve announcements, banners, classroom announcements, general fundraising, and overall promotion of AED. Previous experience encouraged.

Webmaster: Maintains and manages all of AED’s digital assets including but not limited to the website, engrade, and email systems. Please be prepared to show examples of previous experience.

Proposing a Division: If you would like to propose a division, please write a detailed description of your division, the requirements, outline of proposed events, execution plan, etc. It is advised that you speak to an executive board member in advance about your proposed division.
