GHS Daily Announcements September 28, 2017 UPCOMING NEWS: WZZM Sunrise Sidelines will be here tomorrow from 5:45am to 7:00am. Students, be here at 5:45 to show our GHS Pride and Grit at the sunrise pep assembly! We will see you all there, Go Bulldogs!! Attention GHS students: The Homecoming dance will be on Saturday October 7th in the west gym from 8pm-11pm! Ticket sales will begin the Monday of homecoming week (October 2-6) and are $15 each. If you and possibly another person you know would be interested in volunteering at Art Prize for a foundation that helps children affected by lead poisoning in the Flint water crisis, listen up! You would be helping an artist and would be fed where she is located on the second floor of the DeVos Center (Her artwork is titled Joy Buddies). She is looking for volunteers THIS Friday from 5pm-10pm, Saturday from 9am-10pm and Sunday from 1pm-6pm. You can create your own shift for as long as you would like. Permission slips and jersey order forms are now available in the 1st floor office, a ll participants musts have a completed permission slip turned back in to the office by this Monday, October 2 to play. Mrs. Fischer has planned a trip to see Les Miserables downtown on Tuesday, November 21. Tickets are $52 and must be paid in full to reserve your seat. We need to give a final count soon for what is going to be a sold out show. Please see Mrs. Fischer in room 167 for more information. Beginning October 1, written announcements will only be published on Tuesday and Friday of each week.
GUIDANCE OFFICE NEWS: Any student 10-12th grade who is interested in tutoring and earning service hours can see Ms. Mattice in the counseling office. Tutors needed now for Algebra 2, and Physics.
Juniors and Seniors: You will now be notified and can view upcoming college visits on your Family Connection site. On the homepage and under the colleges tab. You will still need to do the actual signing up on the google form sent out by Mrs. Wolf about a week ahead of each visit. The following colleges will be visiting Grandville HS: Yale University Monday, Oct 2, 2nd Hour in C-21 Spring Arbor University Monday, Oct 2, 6th Hour in C-21 Interested 11th and 12th grade students will be able to sign up through Google Forms on their email account and must have permission from their teacher during the hour of the visit. Locations for each visit are included on the email and vary depending on the visit. Please see your counselor if you have any questions

The Media Center has magazines available for check out, or sit on the soft seating and read. People, Time, Health, Michigan Out-of-Doors, Consumers Report just to name a few. Come on in and check them out.
CLUBS AND GROUPS: If you missed the first Culture Club meeting on Wednesday, NO WORRIES! The next meeting for Culture Club is Monday, October 2. in room 161. A light breakfast will be served. The meeting will start at 7:30am. If you have any questions, ask Mrs. GW in room 161. Does life ever get you feeling overwhelmed? The Anxiety Resource Center is here to help. The A.R.C. is hosting a weekly anxiety support group every Wednesday from 4:30-5:45. It's a laid back setting to help you learn how to manage anxiety surrounded by others who get it. If you'd like more information, please see Ms. Koza in C26B. ATTENTION SENIORS AND SENIOR PARENTS: Registration for the Senior All Night Party is open until October 16. After that date, the price increases to $125. Everyone registered before October 16 will be entered into a special raffle. Registering on time ensures you get the correct t-shirt size. ATHLETICS: Your Grandville varsity tennis team captured the falcons of east kentwood. Beating them 7-1 in quick but hard fought matches. Winning teams for the dawgs were Benny "the jet" Walski at 1 singles. Trevor "southpaw" Gelfius at 2 singles. Ethan "the kid" Rycenga at 4 singles. Broccoli Walker and Kyle "kooks" kukla at 1 doubles. The Lin/Li dynasty at 2 doubles. The fight club duo of Christian Breuker and Jake "the snake" Tallon at 3 doubles and the "Twin Towers" aka Pat Clark and Brad Sanders at 4 doubles. Your dawgs are back at it again this coming Monday, October 2nd at the Kennel. Come out and and support your dawgs as they battle the eagles of Hudsonville. The JV Tennis team feasted on Falcon Fricassee yesterday at The Kennel. They spent the afternoon devouring the Kentwood team 11 to 4. The team's record is now 5 and 2 as they travel to Hudsonville for revenge of an earlier loss. Winning teams were: Farney and Woodruff, Balley and Lawrence, Aidif and Dunn, Kocsis and Morey, Doyle and Sheehan, Davis and Peddie, Hopkins and Kopenski, Emaus and Kooienga, Dam and Shooltz, Dam and Goldsmith, and Mason Herb at singles.
