MATH PROJECT The project is based on Mathematics activities connected to some specific mathematics subjects by using manipulatives (materials) such as tangram, dice, clinometer, volume shapes, dotted paper, fraction set, unit cubes, isometric paper, geoboard, platonic solids, pattern blocks and interlocking cubes. Our aim is to research how some specific subjects of mathematics are learned and taught and how pupils can learn about different European countries through mathematics activities, intend to find new ways and methods to learn and teach mathematics in order to provide new means of motivation for pupils, teachers and also for parents. How will we work? Every country will choose two manipulatives from the list: 1- TANGRAM 2- CLINOMETER 3- DICE 4- VOLUME SHAPES 5- DOTTED PAPER 6- FRACTION SET 7- UNIT CUBES 8- ISOMETRIC PAPER 9- GEOBOARD 10- PLATONIC SOLIDS 11- PATTERN BLOCKS 12- INTERLOCKING CUBES 13- Tangram 14- Clinometer 15- Dice 16- Volume shapes 17- Dotted paper 18- Fraction set 19- Unit cubes 20- Isometric paper 21- Geoboard 22- Platonıc solids 23- Pattern blocks

In each visit, we will focus two manipulatives in order to teach and learn some specific mathematics subjects. Visitor countries will work on the hosting country’s manipulatives from its own side in its school. And then it will present the works to its students and teachers. Later it will prepare a CD including its entire works for showing and give the CD copies to all countries during the visit. Each school will prepare 2 presentations (videos, PPTs) for each manipulative. For example we will work on tangram; Work 1: application; you want to introduce square, isolesces right triangle, rectangle for instance. Before starting the activities, teachers and pupils practice tangram and parts of it. Pupils will learn shapes and their properties such as area, circumference etc. And then you will prepare a PPT and a video from mathematics activity. Then when you go back to school you will present it to other pupils to disseminate and create awareness. The following draft project duties will be given to the countries with 1 or 2 items. 1- Coordination of the project ( Turkey ) 2- Project song 3- Project logo/motto 4- Project brochure at the beginning of Project (about our Project, schools) 5- Project website 6- 2018 and 2019 calendars 7- Project DVD 1 and 2 including the visits’ works. 8- eTwinning work space 9- Magazine 1 &2 (For the first year and second year, we will prepare
Magazine 1&2 from working areas by using activities done)
10- After each visit hosting country will prepare a newspaper related to the visit,
schools and countries. 11- Before coming to the first visit, every school will prepare a leaflet about their
schools. 12- Before coming to the first visit every school will prepare a power point about
its school-city and country during the visit we will give each other the copies of the CDs. Some rules well for us: -
Students will be hosted by families

During the visit, all transportation will be done (paid) by hosting country: from airport to hotel, from hotel to school, from school to airport, that is every kind of transportation.

We will organize 2 visits during the visit: one is for our city, the other one will be for a close city.

Of course we will offer each other meal for a few times for hospitality.

Respect and friendship will be our goals. We will not hurt and disturb each other.

We will give answers to our questions on time for a good communication.
