What Materials You’ll Need:
100g of DK yarn in Yellow A small amount of DK yarn in brown A small amount of DK yarn in Black A small amount of DK yarn in Red 4mm Crochet Hook 3.5mm Crochet Hook Stuffing Safety Eyes Stitch Marker Yarn Needle
What You’ll Need to Know: Double Crochet [or Single Crochet for our American Crafters!] Increase and decrease in double crochet [single crochet] You’ll need to know how to change colour whilst working. A tutorial on this is available on the last pages of the Cat Cushion pattern on my Blog.
This pattern works continuously, rather than slip stitching at the end of each round. The pattern will direct you on this but it is useful to have a stitch marker handy (I just use an earring if I am caught short!). Embroidery Stitch: Back Stitch. For embroidering on Pikachu’s face.

Making your Pikachu! The number in (brackets) at the end of each line indicates how many stitches you should have at the end of that round. It is important to check this as it helps you identify whether you have made a mistake when increasing and decreasing. This pattern does not join with a slip stitch at the end of a round, please use a stitch marker throughout. Mark the first stitch you make in each round, this will indicate where you need to work the first stitch of the following round. Move the stitch marker as you work each round.
The Body:
Decrease for Head
In Yellow, using a 4mm hook, make a magic ring. Work 6 dc [sc] into the ring. o 1dc [sc] into the first stitch to join. Place stitch marker. Work 1dc [sc] into the same stitch. 2dc [sc] into each stitch around. The Ears: Make 2 With a 3.5mm hook, Ch 8. Use a ss to join into a ring. (8) o 1dc [sc] into the same stitch as ss. Place Stitch marker. (8) o (1dc [sc] in each stitch around) for 8 rows. (8) o Change to Black. (1dc [sc] in each stitch around) for 2 rows.(8) o (Dc2tog) 4 times around. (4) o Stuff the ear and, if you wish, insert a pipe cleaner to make the ear bendable. o 1dc [sc] in each stitch around. (4) o Stuff again to desired squishiness. o Dc2tog twice. (2) o Fasten Off leaving a long tail to sew onto the body.
The Feet: Make 4 o Using a 3.5mm hook, Ch 4. 1dc [sc] into the 2nd ch from hook, 1dc [sc] in each stitch across. (3) o Turn, ch1, 1dc [sc] in each stitch across. (3) o Turn, ch1, 2dc in first stitch, 1dc in each stitch across. (4) o Turn, ch1, 2dc in first stitch, 1dc in each stitch across. o When all 4 are made, crochet two pieces together using dc [sc]. You can place a small amount of stuffing in-between if you wish. Repeat this with the other two pieces and you will have 2 feet!
Tail – Make 2 to be crocheted together. o Using a 3.5mm hook, Ch11, 1dc [sc] into the 2nd ch from hook. 1dc [sc] in each stitch across. (10) o (Turn, ch1, 1dc [sc] in each stitch across) for 3 rows, at the end of last row, ch 5. (10) 1dc [sc] in 2nd ch from stitch, work 1dc [sc] in next 4 chains, and 1dc [sc] into the next 6 stitches. Leave remaining stitches unworked (10 (4+6)). o (Turn, ch1. Work 1dc [sc] across) for two rows (10). o Turn, ch1. Woek 1dc [sc] into next 5 stitches. Leave the rest of the stitches unworked. (5) o (Turn, ch1. 1dc [sc] in each stitch across) for 2 rows. (5) o Turn, ch1. Work 1dc [sc] in first stitch, change to brown, work 1dc [sc] in each stitch across. (5) o Still working in brown, turn, ch1. 1dc [sc] in each stitch across. o Turn, ch1. dc2tog [sc2tog], 1dc [sc] in each stitch across. (4) o Turn, ch1. dc2tog [sc2tog], 1dc [sc] in each stitch across (3) o (Turn, ch1. 1dc [sc] in each stitch across) for two rows. (3) o Fasten Off leaving a long tail to sew onto the body. Putting the tail together: Lay the two pieces together so that the lightning bolts align, dc [sc] the two pieces together. Remember to add stuffing as you go. If you wish, you can put a pipe-cleaner in the tail to make it malleable. o
Paws: Make 2 Make a magic ring. Work 4 stitches into the ring o Work 1dc [sc] into the first stitch to join, work 1dc [sc] into the same stitch. *Work 2dc [sc] in each stitch* Repeat *to* around (8) o *1dc [sc] in next stitch, 2dc [sc] in following stitch* Repeat around (12) o (1dc [sc] in each stitch around) for 3 rows. o Fasten Off leaving a long tail to sew onto the body.
Cheeks: Make 2 Make a magic ring. Work 4 stitches into the ring. Pull Tight.

Putting your Pikachu together! Putting your Pikachu together is easier than you think! All you need to do is align all of your parts (ears, cheeks, paws, tail & feet) and, using a yarn needle and the long tail you fastened off with, sew the parts onto the body one by one.

Embroidering your face onto Pikachu! Using black yarn and a yarn needle embroider on Pikachu’s nose and mouth using back stitch. If you don’t know how to back stitch, there are LOADS of tutorials on YouTube!
