City of Spokane Mayor 

Mary Verner Non-Partisan o o o o

Mary Verner's strong leadership has served the people of Spokane very well. She is our best choice to guide Spokane through these challenging times. Verner has kept libraries open, accelerated critical infrastructure repair, and added to the police force, while still closing monetary shortfalls without deep cuts to essential services. She worked with the city's labor force to achieve wage and benefit solutions, utilized the Employee-Led Innovation program, and fostered departmental cooperation to achieve savings and streamline processes. She balanced the 2012 budget without new taxes. After a long history of one-term mayors, Spokane has one that definitely deserves re-election.

Verner leads the charge on developing Spokane's green economy through a comprehensive plan with business, works to expand Spokane's medical and research campuses, and developed the Seven in Eleven program to improve the business climate without additional cost. She has taken strong stands against violence and crime and actively promotes equality in Spokane's community. Verner's leading opponent, Republican David Condon, has spent the entirety of his political career working for conservative congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rogers, who has been leading the tea party efforts to destroy Medicare and Social Security. While Verner has refused to accept almost half of her salary as Mayor to help the city through hard financial times, Condon refuses to make the same pledge before the election. Condon instead pledges to fund tax cuts for businesses that would result in deep cuts to vital city services that protect public safety and our quality of life. Endorsements and Supporters include: Washington Conservation Voters, Cascade Bicycle Club, SEIU Healthcare 775NW

City Council President 

Ben Stuckart Non-Partisan o o o o

Ben Stuckart recognizes the importance of public safety, arts, and youth services and has committed to protecting them from crippling budget cuts. Currently, Stuckart is the executive director of Communities in Schools, which is working to bring critical health and social services to Spokane's youth. Previously Stuckart had a successful career as a regional manager for Tickets West. He has served on the leadership team of Greater Spokane Progress, an organization committed to protecting vulnerable and minority communities. Electing Stuckart would bring a leader to Spokane City Council committed to protecting city services that help our kids and communities thrive.

Donna McKereghan Non-Partisan

o o o

While there are no progressive endorsements in this race, there is broad agreement that it is important to defeat Tim Eyman's henchman.Mike Fagan, who is running for this seat. Here are two credible candidates in a crowded field. John Waite is a small business owner who was able to bring his business through the recession without layoffs, and he promises to bring the same principles to the constricted Spokane budget. Most of this focus is on empowering businesses to create jobs and streamlining the process for innovators and entrepreneurs to start their own businesses. Waite has also served on Riverside Neighborhood Council.

Donna McKereghan has has a strong record of civic engagement and has served on the Logan Neighborhood Council and the Washington State Legislative Ethics Board. McKereghan is owner of a web design company in Spokane, and run for office previously.

Spokane School Director Position #5 

Deana Brower Non-Partisan o o o o
