where access to antiretroviral treatment is still far from being universal although the situation is improving over time. So we’re using all possible opportunities and evidences to advocate for scaling up access to HIV treatment. And currently we see the window of opportunities in implementation science and operational researches showing that such interventions as PrEP and test& treat are effective and have a good potential within the local context. Within this direction we plan a number of community based control trials to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of HIV test and treat approach among MSM and serodiscordant couples as well as effectiveness of PrEP in the same groups. Our focus is determined by the evidence that the great proportion of new HIV cases in Ukraine are occurring in the MSM population and among sexual partners of people who inject drugs.
Students will work with existing data to conduct epidemic modeling exercise to calculate the epidemiological and economic effectiveness of early start of the treatment and use of PrEP.
