Full-time Education Officer Cikananga Conservation Breeding Centre Yayasan Cikananga Konservasi Terpadu is a non-governmental organisation that aims to rescue, protect and reintroduce Endangered Javan species. It was created in 2001 and is divided in two parts: the Rescue Centre that receives and takes care of animal taken from the illegal wildlife trade and illegal keeping; and the Cikananga Conservation Breeding Centre (CCBC) that focuses on Endangered Javan bird species and protects them from extinction through captive breeding (ex-situ) and reintroduction (insitu). CCBC is looking for a full-time Education Officer to work on the in-situ programmes, including: - Reintroduction of the Black-winged Starling (Acridotheres melanopterus) - Wild population survey of Javan Green Magpie (Cissa thalassina) - Bird market survey (looking for targeted bird species)
Job description The Education Officer will work mainly for the Black-winged Starling Reintroduction Programme. A minimum of 15 days per month will be spent on this programme, working on a strong Education Programme and Community Development. The Education Officer will have to follow the lines implemented by the Conservation Programme Manager and the previous Education Officer to continue the Educational activities, raise pride to local people and improve the community development. The targeted people will be both children and adults. After discussing with the Conservation Programme Manager, the Education Officer could also be asked to accompany a team of bird expert for the survey of wild Javan Green Magpie or perform bird market survey to identify targeted species. The Education Officer will have to discuss with local people and former/current bird catchers to get information on the status of these species in the wild and catching pressure. The Education Officer could be asked to work alone or teamed with the CCBC Field Biologist, interns and/or volunteers (Indonesian or International). The Education Officer will have to provide an English report about the tasks performed and results to the Conservation Programme Manager before the end of each month.
Required qualification -
University background in Education and/or Biology Experience on field work and Education/Socialisation Able to develop a strong methodology depending on the objectives of each programme

Good social skills with both children and adults Confident to talk with bird catchers/traders Rigorous, serious in the work and writing reports Independent and reliable Speaking fluently Bahasa Indonesia (Bahasa Sunda is an advantage) Able to speak English and write English reports Able to work and adapt to a multi-cultural environment

Starting date: October 2016 3-month probation period, followed by a 1-year contract Working 23 days per month (7 days-off). Days-off can be consecutive or scattered along the month depending on the on-site duties (discussed with the Conservation Programme Manager) Working on the field or in CCBC Headquarter for writing reports, data analysis and meeting with the Conservation Programme Manager When the Education Officer is away from CCBC Headquarter (on the field), food and transport are provided by CCBC Housing provided in guest houses when the Education Officer is in CCBC Headquarter Health and work insurance provided by CCBC after the 3-month probation period
