What have we done? As promised, we have: Conducted Facility Assessment of Goodhue Campus Provided a Matrix of Condition of the facility Looked critically at the facility to document current status of individual components
Taken the information gathered and “scored” using a point system for each component and an overall value as the facility is measured as a whole Provided a written narrative for the facility relating to the conditions we found Assembled a Summary with recommendations for corrective action
2
What did we find? In general, the building scored rather low. The Goodhue facility scored 62.7 out of 100 resulting in a ‘Moderate Remodel’ rating. This is at the low end of “Moderate Remodel,” however
3
Facility Assessment
Moderate Remodel Rating Findings were a bit of a surprise: • • • •
Serious mechanical issues Several exterior wall issues Improper wall flashings Heating system is seriously outdated and subject to imminent failure • Cooling systems very limited and not centralized • Building circulation is extremely poor

What are the big issues?
There are several major deficiencies which stand out: • • • • • • • •
Steam heating system needs to be replaced 1953 electrical systems need to be replaced Exterior masonry and stucco finishes need remedial action Roof flashings/reglets are not high enough above roof Plumbing system in older portion of building needs upgrade/replacement Science labs and FACS lab sorely need remodel Security system is severely lacking Technology is very limited throughout building
9
What to do?
Reinvest in the building to restore fundamental components to safe and modern standards • •
• • •
Requires a significant investment Would require major disruption of building to accomplish infrastructure upgrades Would improve thermal efficiencies Would not address circulation issues Should be part of a ‘right-sizing’ study
10
Thoughts • Analyze current curriculum and project future curriculum needs • Generate/evaluate population demographic studies • Develop short- and long-term facility plan • Review and prioritize recommended actions in Narrative • Define and establish formal goals • Initiate formal movement forward
