You Too Can Be Saved

CHAPTER 1

-MY SALVATION STORYI Corin. 12:3 „Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost‟.

I

will like to commence this book with the

testimony of my salvation. The testimony of my salvation might not be too dramatic but it is a remarkable experience and a lifetime memoir for me. I was born and brought up in Ajegunle, a ghetto suburb in Lagos, the commercial centre of Nigeria. Growing up and schooling in Ajegunle was not really easy because of its hostility, gangsters lifestyle and sophisticating peer pressure (but that does not really 12 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

mean there are no good sides of Ajegunle – it is a land that has groomed great superstars in Nigeria). But thank God for my father who even though was not a believer (born again) then but as a religious Christian, he was a disciplinarian. He was no nonsense man. His disciplinary measures in the course of my upbringing coupled with the religious and moral grooming I received from Sunday school as a church boy (because my mum of blessed memory always took me to church as a kid); helped me to withstand the pressure from the ghetto. But this training cultured my manner but did not give me Jesus or gets me saved. Life in High School I was privileged to be among the best brains in my high school. I was kind of bookworm. I love reading. I read all manners, the academics and non academics, the booms and the hints, some of which messed up my thinking and emotions. Even though, I was not among the bad boys i.e. those lads that used to go to the bush to smoke weeds and drink „shepe‟ (slang for alcohol in A.J) during school hour or engaged in school fight or get charmed for protection during school fights, I was among the home boys that tied 13 | P a g e

bandana and are involved in the boyfriend/girlfriend things. Though, I was sound academically but I knew I was not sound spiritually. I never knew Jesus Christ personally even though I was a church boy. I was not saved, I was without God, Jesus was not living in me and if He had returned then I was very sure I wouldn‟t have made heaven for I had no personal knowledge of Him as my Lord and Savior. I mocked my school mates who said they were born again. When they invited me for the student fellowship and because I saw them as unserious student, I used to mock them by saying „you will not go and read your books rather you are going about carrying Jesus on your head after which you will fail your exams‟. Little wonder I did not know that very soon I will be like them, carrying Jesus on my head more fervently and forever. I could remember one of those days, the president of student fellowship invited me, I told him I was coming whereas I knew I won‟t, I contrived him and felt smart for doing that. (Feeling ashamed for doing that now) But thank God for His mercy. I never 14 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

understood what I was doing. On several occasions, he has told me that one day I will start serving Jesus. I will just laugh him to scorn but never knew he was prophesying. My Turning Point After graduating from high school, I continued without Christ. I was under the bondage of sin but still going to church. Then, one of those days in church (about 11 years ago), it was announced that there was going to be water baptism for members who will want to be baptized. The church was an orthodox church with flair of prophetic operation. One of their doctrines then was that only those who were baptized were allow to take the communion except occasionally when there is a prophetic declaration or „assignment‟ (as fondly called in the church which implies prophetic instruction) for everyone to partake of the communion either for safety or to avert upcoming evil or outbreak of sickness or disease. This communion that is based on prophetic declaration comes once in awhile but the other communion meant for those that are baptized was regular and I was not partaking of it 15 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

because I was not baptized. So I decided to enroll for the baptism. Actually, I thought the baptism was just going to be a normal religious activity. I never knew it was a divine setup predestinated before I was born to bring me into a life changing encounter with Jesus. This was my Damascus journey where I won‟t return the same way I came. So, I reluctantly started the baptismal class which was slated for about three days to end on a Friday then on Saturday we will be baptized. A day before the baptism which was 11th November, 2005, a vibrant youth leader of the church who was born again and filled with the Holy Ghost (I believed he encountered Christ in the university because he was a student of a tertiary institution in south-south of Nigeria and came for holiday) came to visit us in the class to see how we were doing. While he was with us, he was inspired by the H0ly Ghost to preach. He preached a powerful message on salvation to us. He told us about Jesus being the savior of the world and why we need to embraced Him as our Lord. He emphasized that baptism will make no sense to us if 16 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

we are not born again i.e. receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior; for only those who are saved are qualified for baptism and can truly benefit from its significance. (And that is a true saying because water baptism is only an outward expression of an inward conviction of the Lordship of Jesus Christ). I was pricked in my heart. I saw the need of Christ as the one that can only save and set me free from sin and baptism is only meant for those who are saved. And this was when the turning point began. Praying the Salvation Prayer After he was done preaching he led us to Christ by leading us to pray the prayer of salvation. Behold, here was I declaring and accepting the Lordship of Jesus without stress and freely by praying the prayer of salvation. I have never done this before and this is what I have been running away from since high school. Behold, it has finally come to me. It can only be God. This was the Holy Spirit at work. Hallelujah! Truly, no man can say Jesus is the Lord except by the Holy Ghost. The testimony of my salvation affirms to this truth. Being born again is not the work of the flesh or by the strength of any man but it is by the 17 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

working of the Holy Ghost in the heart of a man through the hearing of the Gospel that stirs him to believe, confess and receive the Lordship of Jesus. And so it was for me. The moment I said that prayer I felt peace and joy overwhelming my heart. I was born again. From that day I knew I was saved and I had the presence of Jesus with me. My appetite for reading those booms and hints died and the yoke of sin and sensual fantasies was broken over my life. I had a new appetite to read the bible to know more about God. This desire spurs me to go and buy my first personal bible and I chewed it like a starving lion that has found a prey. The desire to have fellowship with God was birthed in me. Praying and fellowshipping with Him became my interest. And going to church was more delightful. I saw my going to church in a new light. Not too long I was asked to preach in one of the children services and that was my first public preaching. From Glory To Glory Also, my life moved from glory to glory. Though that does not mean I haven‟t stumble on obstacles or 18 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

missed it sometimes but the hand of God‟s grace has always be there to help and strengthen me to be more better and stronger by the day. Not too long from the day of my salvation I got admission into the higher institution to study Medical laboratory sciences to the glory of God. And it has been Jesus all the way to the day of my graduation. While in school God‟s grace was evident in every way. His calling was made manifest to me and all. And by His divine and gracious will and plan I was ordained as a Pastor in the ministry where I served God of which if I was told while in high that I will be a Pastor I will dispute it strongly. But all glory be to God, for His thoughts towards us are good and not of evil but to give us a better hope and future. This is why I can boldly say that one of the remarkable things salvation brought to me was to open the access to discover my purpose and my potentials in life. My destiny was redefined to me completely by this discovery. And this book, the gospel single I released and the ministry I‟m privilege to coordinate and lots more God is and will be doing in, for and through me are all fruits of this discovery. Indeed, life with Jesus is a life 19 | P a g e

of great discoveries and all possibilities. Life is good with Jesus! I have enjoyed it and I am still enjoying it. I will encourage you to login into this „gbedu‟ we have in Christ if you have not. If Jesus can save me, „You Too Can Be Saved‟. And He wants to use this book to enforce His salvation plan for you. Keep on reading as I take you through the journey of salvation with the Holy Ghost as the captain.

CHAPTER 2

-SALVATION: IT INCLUDES YOU!I Tim. 2:3-4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who will have all men [including you] to be saved, and to come into the knowledge of the truth”

Many recognize the fact and need of salvation, but have no personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. They see that others are saved, but query whether salvation is God‟s will for them. To them, salvation is an exclusive privilege for a set of special people of which they claim they do not belong to either because of their notion of the magnitude of their sins or religious belief of the difficulty in getting saved. What a wrong notion! 21 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

Beloved, I used to think like this until the Word of truth came to set me free. Well, with men and with you, your salvation is impossible but not with God. For with God, all things are possible including your salvation. If He could save the thief on the cross, the woman caught in the act of adultery and Saul, a murderer and persecutor of the church, your case is not different. Your case is not too bad neither have you gone too far that you cannot be brought near nor are your sins too magnanimous and worst that God cannot forgive you and set you free. If others are getting saved, you too can be saved irrespective of the magnitude of your sins or the failures of your past or your present spiritual struggles with addictions and sin or the religious sect you belong. You getting saved and having all your sins remitted is not an impossible task before God. Besides, it is a done deed in His sight. He has already done it. He did it by sending HIS only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to enforce His salvation plan for all (John 3:15-18). Salvation is God‟s perfect will for all including you. It is His gracious gift of love to rescue man from the 22 | P a g e

scourge and penal consequence of sin including you. Don‟t be deceived by the lie of the devil. Salvation plan includes you. It is His gracious of love to rescue man

consequences of sin. Here are scriptures to affirm this truth. Check it out for yourself. I Tim. 2:3-4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who will have all men [including you] to be saved, and to come into the knowledge of the truth” John 3:16-17. “For God so loved the World [the world here is the inhabitants of the earth, all men, all sinners including you], that He gave His only begotten son, that whatsoever [anybody, anyone, any sinner including you] believeth in

the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved” 2 Peter 3:9. “The Lord is not slacking concerning His promises…; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any [including you] should perish but come to repentance [salvation]”. Ezekiel 33:11. “Say unto them, as I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked [the sinners including you], but the wicked (the sinner) turn from his wicked ways [be saved] and live…” Titus 2:11. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation has appeared to all men [including you]…‟ I Tim. 1:15. “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptances, that Christ Jesus came into the 24 | P a g e

world to save sinners [including you and I]…” Rom 10:13; Act 2:21. “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever [including you] shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” In the mouth of two or three witnesses a matter is established. It is clear from the above scriptures that salvation is God‟s perfect will for all including you. God so desires you to be saved just like a deer pants for water. And He has done the work for you to be saved. You don‟t need to exclude yourself nor allow the devil cheat out of this gracious plan of God for you. Yes, you can. You too can be saved. Salvation is for all and that includes you. You don‟t have to wait for any special sign to know whether you can be saved. Even though, there are some people who are waiting for a special sign to know whether salvation is the will of God concerning them. In the meantime, they are doing all within the power of their human strength and skill to overcome or be delivered from 25 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

sin, sinful habits, guilt and the penal consequences of sin, forgetting that God‟s will of salvation has already be revealed by the coming of Jesus Christ. The coming of Jesus is the only sign that salvation for all has come. It will please you to know that Isaiah prophesied about His coming as the sign of our salvation. Isaiah 7:14. “Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [God is with us and so longer against us]. John and Matthew also testified about Him as the only sign we need for our salvation. John 1:29. “…… Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away

the sin of the world [including

yours]”. Matthew 1:21

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people [us] from their sins”. And Apostle John crowned it all in 1 John 3:8. “……… for this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” Beloved, it is clear that the coming of Jesus Christ is the only sign we need for our salvation. We don‟t need to wait for any other sign. He came to make salvation available to all including you. He came to deliver us from our sins and was resurrected for our justification (Rom.4:25). Salvation is within our reach. Just anyone can be saved including you. You too can be saved. Stop excluding yourself. Stop waiting for a sign. You are included in the plan. Jesus Christ is the only sign. He has brought salvation to all. Through Him, God has made salvation as a privilege and exclusive 27 | P a g e

right to be received by anyone who choose to. Any anyone that dares to believe the finished work of Jesus Christ receives salvation. For God is no respecter of persons. Don‟t exclude yourself. God wants you to be saved and it is His good and perfect will for you. You too can be saved just like any other person can be or is saved. Today is your day of salvation. Grab it. Don‟t let it pass you by. But in case you are thinking, „why must I be saved?‟ I will like you to flip over to the next page.

CHAPTER 3

-WHY YOU MUST BE SAVEDHebrews 2:3. “How shall we escape, we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed into us by them that heard him”

According

to

the

scripture,

one

of

the

fundamental reasons why everyone needs to be saved is to receive deliverance from sin, its bondage and penal consequences (Rom. 7:19-25). This is because sin is the root cause of all the calamities and problems of mankind (Rom.3:23). David said „Before I was afflicted I went astray‟ Ps. 119:67. Until man sinned and went astray, man never knew death, sorrow, pain, sickness, disease, lack, starvation, hatred, envy, murder and all manner of evil. 29 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

It is in view of this, delivering us from our sins and the punishment thereof is the primary purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ. As recorded in John 1:29 “…… Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” and in Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins”. So, deliverance from sin, its power and penal consequences is the fundamental reason why we must be saved. But, most times folks ask the question, where did sin come from? The Origin of sin In the beginning, when God created man, He created him in His image and likeness. So, man had the nature of God. He had a right standing and enjoyed a sweet fellowship with God. Man was destined to be His companion forever and to have

30 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

dominion over all the works of His hand on earth (Gen 1:26-28; Ps. 8:4-6). Adam was the first man God created but he was the embodiment of the human race or mankind. So, every transaction between God and Adam was between God and the entire of human race. God put man in the person of Adam in the Garden of Eden where he enjoyed the fullness and goodness of God‟s presence which empowers him to rule over the earth. It was expected of him to tend the garden, reproduce and filled the earth with many gardens of Eden. However, God instructed him, saying of every tree of the garden you may freely eat but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat of it. For in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die (Gen.2:17). But satan also known as the devil, in the form of a serpent who was more subtle than any beast of the feast came to beguile and deceive Adam and turned him away from God‟s instruction. Because of satan‟s deceit, Adam doubted and disobeyed God. By this act 31 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

of disobedience, not only Adam but man as a whole (remember Adam was the embodiment of mankind) lost the nature of God and right standing with GOD and the nature of the devil was implanted in man. And that nature is sin. By this nature, man was excommunicated from the presence of God. (You can get this account from Gen. 3:1-24) Sin came from the devil From the above account, it is evident that sin originated from the devil. He is the father and source of sin in this world. The scripture described that sin is his nature in: 1 John 3:8 „He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning‟ John 8:44 „…the devil… was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he

32 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it‟. The devil is the father of sin. He brought sin into the world through his lies and deception. Before the devil came, there was no sin in the world. Sin was not part of man. But when he came to deceive Adam and Adam yielded to his lies and disobeys God. By this single act of disobedience, Sin became part of man. The nature of sin which is the nature of the devil enters into the world and was imputed to all men. For when he deceived Adam, he did not only deceive Adam as a person but he deceived mankind as a whole as such the whole world. For Adam was an embodiment of the human race. So, the deceiving of Adam was the deceiving of the world. Rev 12:9. Say it all “And the great dragon was cast out that old serpent called the devil, and satan, which deceiveth the whole world….” So, the devil is the source of sin in the world but sin enters into the world and was imputed to mankind 33 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

through the disobedience of Adam, when he yielded to the deceits of the devil. And because Adam was an embodiment of the human race, the sin of Adam became the sin of the whole world. The disobedience of Adam was the disobedience of the whole world. The fall of Adam was the fall of man. Adam never knew the impact of his disobedience. See what the scripture says in Rom. 5:12. „Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” And in: Rom 3:23 For all have sinned [because of Adam‟s sin], and came short of the glory of God. All have sinned because of Adam’s disobedience 34 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Rom. 5:17, 19. “…….By the offense of one [Adam] judgment came upon all men to condemnation ……, for as by one man‟s disobedience many were made sinners” By the disobedience of Adam, the sin nature was imputed to all men for he was the embodiment of mankind. We were made sinners because of Adam‟s disobedience not because of our sinful acts. As such any man born of man into the world partakes of the sin nature that came upon man through Adam‟s disobedience and yielding to the lies of the devil. So, we are sinners not because we commit sinful acts against God but because of the disobedience of Adam. His disobedience brought the sin nature upon us. It is this nature in us that makes us to commit acts of sins, walk in disobedience and walk according to the course of this world. This nature is known as the spirit of disobedience that works in every sinner to making them to walk contrarily to God‟s will and word. So, it is this nature of sin in us that made us 35 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

sinners. As sinners, it was natural and we are bound to commit or indulge in sinful acts. It was by Adam‟s disobedience, we all inherit this sin nature. It was implanted into the DNA of mankind and any man born of flesh partakes and carries this sin nature which is communicated to us when we are conceived in our mother‟s womb. As such, we all were born sinners and those that are yet to be born will be born as sinners as well. That was why David said in Psalms 51:5 „Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me‟. This sin nature in man what make us to be slave and susceptible to sin and thereby committing sinful acts, practices and habits that are against the will of God. The punishment of Adam’s sin came upon the whole world

36 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Just like the sin of Adam was imputed to the whole world so also the punishment (penal consequences) of the sin was imputed to mankind. Remember, God instructed Adam not to eat the fruits of the tree of knowledge and evil: He told him that for in the day that he eats it he shall surely die (Gen. 2:17). When Adam disobeyed God, the judgment of death was pronounced upon him and that judgment of death was passed upon all men. So, we all sinned when Adam sinned and we all died when Adam died. Roman 5:12, 17. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all man, for that all have sinned., ….. By the offense of one (Adam) judgment came all men to condemnation ……” I Corin. 15:21-22. „for since by man (Adam) came death… For as in Adam all die….” 37 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death ….” As sin entered into the world, so its judgment which is death also entered into the world. For the sting of death is sin. (1 Corin. 15:56) The judgment of death The word „death‟ in Gen. 2:17; Rom. 5:12, 17, Rom. 6; 23 and 1 Corin. 15:21-22 does not literally mean physical death though physical death emanates from it. This death is a spiritual death with earthly and eternal consequences. It is translated from the Greek word thanatos which in its widest meaning means „a wretched state of separation and cessation from the life and presence of God comprising all miseries of the soul and body arising from sin, as well as physical death, the loss of a life consecrated to God and blessed in him on earth, to be followed by wretchedness in hell (compiled from Strong‟s dictionary of Hebrew and Greek)‟. 38 | P a g e

It is a state of condemnation and damnatory judgment. It is a realm where man is short (or devoid) of the glory of God and alienated from the blessings of God. It is also called the fallen state; where the heart of man is darkened, unresponsive and devoid of the life and nature of God. He is dreadful of God and as such run away from God. At this point, it is expedient to recall that before Adam sinned against God; man had a right standing with God. He was in a state of fellowship and communion with the life and presence of God in the Garden of Eden. The Garden of Eden was the abode of God‟s presence. In this state, he enjoyed health, abundance, joy, blessings, security and peace with God. Ps. 16:11 „For in the presence of God, there is fullness of Joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forever.‟ But when Adam disobeyed God and the nature of sin abode in man and since God is righteous, He 39 | P a g e

couldn‟t fellowship with sin and He still cannot. So Adam was alienated from the presence and life of God and driven out from the Garden of Eden. God drove Adam not because He was wicked but because He is holy, just and righteous. This alienation from God was imputed to man since Adam was the embodiment of mankind. We were all separated from God when Adam was separated from Him. It was not just Adam but mankind that was chased out from the Garden of Eden. This separation subjected man to a new union and master called satan to whose temptation and deceits Adam had yielded himself to. Satan took over and tormented man with all manner of sicknesses, diseases, poverty, lack, sorrows and pains so that physical death could reign over man. Man lost his dominion over the earth to the devil. The devil became the god of this world, and he filled the world and the hearts and lives of men with all manner of

the world. The heart of man that was right with God became full of guilt, and his conscience was darkened against God. Man was without God, helpless and estranged from the blessing of God in this world. (Eph 2:12). Man became backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, implacable and unmerciful (Roman 1:1932). The wickedness of man became so great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his hearts was only evil continually (Gen 6:5). Little wonder, you see all manner of evils and wickedness in this world today. This is because man sinned against God through the disobedience of Adam and make satan his master. And the devil being the father of sin and evil filled the earth with evils works. All these are the earthly consequence of spiritual death, the death judgment that came upon man because of Adam‟s disobedience. The eternal consequence of the judgment is that by virtue of man‟s disobedience, man became the children of wrath. This implies that because of this 41 | P a g e

nature of sin, man was destined for the wrath of God that is to come (Eph 2:5 Rom 2:5, Col. 3:6). This wrath is the judgment and revelation of God‟s anger against sin which was only reserved for the devil and his cohorts. And because man yielded to the lies of the devil, he became a partaker. This wrath is what is called the second death in: Revelation 20: 13-14. „And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death‟. But, this is not the perfect will of God for man. 42 | P a g e

II Thess. 5:9 states it clearly “For God hath not appointed us to wrath (judgment), but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ”. It is on the basis of this God out of infinite, undying and unconditional love for mankind in spite of his sinful state provided an escape route from this scourge of sin and its penal (earthly and eternal) consequences. And that escape route is SALVATION. SALVATION BY CHRIST JESUS. (II Thess. 5:9) FREEDOM FROM SIN AND ITS JUGDEMENT IS THE REASON WHY YOU MUST BE SAVED Salvation is freedom from sin and its judgment. Beloved, this is the fundamental reason why you need to be saved to obtain freedom from sin and it penal consequences. And salvation through Christ is the freedom ticket. It is the only way out of sin and the way to receive forgiveness and remission of our sins. It is the escape route from the earthly and eternal penal consequences of sin. It is the only way that you can be restored back to the presence and life of God. 43 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

Through it we gained back our right standing and be at peace with God to enjoy His presence, blessings and the good life He has ordained for us to live and enjoy on earth forever. This is the reason why you must be saved. I believed by now, you have understood why you must be saved. In summary, you need salvation so that you can be free from sin and it‟s penal (both earthly and eternal) consequences, be restored back and be in right standing and at peace with God so as to enjoy His presence and blessings on this earth and in the world to come. There is no other way. Salvation is the only escape route. (Heb. 2:3) SALVATION IS THE ENTRY POINT Not only is salvation the escape route from damnation and the wrath of God against sin, it is also the entry point into the kingdom of God. Through it, you are born into the family of God; you are born a child, an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ. Through salvation, you obtain divine citizenship of God‟s kingdom and partaker of His divine nature, the blessings and glory of His kingdom, and

you are made His ambassador on earth to fulfill His divine purpose and will. Joh 3:3, 5 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Rom 8:16-17 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 2Pet. 1:3-4 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine 45 | P a g e

nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 1Pet. 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

CHAPTER 4

-JESUS CHRIST: OUR SAVIOURJohn 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

It is good to know that the salvation you need is ONLY found in JESUS CHRIST. It is only through Him we obtain salvation. II Thess. 5:9 states it clearly “For God hath not appointed us to wrath (judgment), but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ”. JESUS Christ is our salvation. He is the savior of the whole world (John 4:42). For by Him and in Him is the salvation of God perfected for mankind. There 47 | P a g e

is no other person or name by which any man can be saved. It is only by Jesus Christ. Acts 4:10, 12 says „…the name of Jesus Christ… neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved‟ He is the second Adam that came to restore what the first Adam destroyed (1 Corin. 15:45-58) Salvation in Christ which is God‟s love plan and perfect will for us was predestinated before the foundation of the world and was decreed by God in Gen 3:15 when He pronounced judgment upon the devil for deceiving the world. He said „the seed of the women shall bruise thy head‟. According to Galatians 4:4-5 - Jesus Christ is the seed of the woman that will bruise the head of the serpent. He will do it on behalf of mankind. Glory be to God!!

48 | P a g e

And at the fullness of time, God sent His only begotten son to enforce His salvation plan for us to prove His unconditional love for us. Rom. 5:6-8 (Amplified version) says “while we were yet in weakness (powerless to help ourselves, in sin), at the fitting (right, set; fullness of) time Christ died for (in behalf of) the ungodly. Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die. But God shows and dearly proves His (own) love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed one) died for us”. Wow! What manner of love is this that God has shown unto us? Indeed, it is unconditional, incredible and unimaginable. For a righteous man to died for a sinner. To take the place of the sinner, bore his sins and suffer the punishment thereof. This can only be God‟s love. 49 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

Apostle John called it „Greater love‟ in John 15:13, he said „…greater love has no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends‟. Who would have thought that there will be a way out for man? I tell you „nobody‟. Not even the devil because assuming he knew he wouldn‟t have crucified the Lord of glory (1 Corin. 2:8). But all thanks be unto God, our Savior, who out of His immense love towards us made a way of escape for us (John 3:16-17; II Thess. 5:9). He sent His only begotten son, Jesus Christ to come and take away the sin of the world (the sin of Adam- that imparted the sin nature in us) (John 1:44) and save us from our sins (the acts of sins we committed personally against God as a result of the sin nature at work in us) (Matthew1:21). I John 2:2 (Amp) says this of Him “and He (that same Jesus Himself) is the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins, 50 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

and for ours alone but also for (the sins) of the whole world”. God made him to be the propitiation for our sins and the sins of the whole world. HE IS OUR PERFECT SUBSTITUTE When Adam sinned against God in the beginning, judgment was passed upon mankind. Because it was not God‟s perfect will for man to perish, He had to seek for man‟s deliverance and redemption. For Him to do it justly because He is just and righteous God, there must be a perfect substitute that will take the place of man, bear the sin of man and suffer what humanity should suffered, and meeting every claim of justice on behalf of fallen man. Only then could God be vindicated. An angel could not fulfill these demands since none was created in the image of God. No man could be the substitute because of the sinful nature in him. Only God Himself could fulfill these requirements. God has to become man. An incarnation of deity and humanity was demanded for this substitution to be possible. 51 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

Deity (God) must assume the liability of the fall of humanity. And this occurred in the man Jesus. The incarnation process the pre-existence of the man Jesus Christ. (Phil 2:6-8; John 1:1; Heb 2:6-18). The incarnation took place when Jesus was born by a miracle conception. The spirit of God overshadowed a virgin and the seed of divine life (the life of God) was created in her womb. That, in itself, is a miracle and it sounds incredible. But it was necessary because Jesus could not be born of human seed that was infected by sin nature, and be innocent of sin. Not only was Christ‟s conception of divine seed and therefore without the heritage of sin, but His life among people had to be sinless, in order to qualify as our substitute. God‟s son must be subjected to the same temptations of sin as any human person is. He must be exactly like us and resist what man had not resisted. He must prove that God‟s original plan could work that man could choose God‟s word, and never dishonor His integrity.

Jesus must be tempted by satan just as Adam had been. This is why, as soon as He was mature, Jesus was led into the wilderness where satan came to tempt Him exactly as he had come to tempt Adam in the Garden of Eden. Every time satan tried to bring question on God‟s word just like he did to Adam, Jesus rejected his suggestions and forthrightly asserted what God had said.

(Math

4:1-11).

Under

the

most

trying

circumstances, Jesus believed God‟s word. The Bible says that throughout the earthly life of Christ, He was in every way tested as we are, yet without committing any sin (Hebrew 4:15). It also said about Him in John 14:30 „for the prince of this world cometh, and had (find) nothing in me‟ And Pilate testified in Luke 23:22 53 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

“I find no cause of death in him”. That is he found no sin in Christ to warrant His death. Jesus Christ was perfect. He was untouched by the seed of sin and He committed no sin. That explains why He was able to be our perfect substitute. Since he had no sin in Him, and committed no sin, He could assume our sins and give His life as a ransom for us. He was fit to be our perfect substitute to restore what the first Adam did.

CHAPTER 5

-JESUS TOOK OUR PLACEJohn 1:29 „The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world‟.

Because He was perfect, he became the right and only person to take our place that we may take His place. He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. He took the penal consequences of our sins and gave us His life. He took our punishment and gave us His freedom. He took our sorrows, pains, and poverty and gave us His peace, joy and riches. He took our sicknesses and diseases and gave us His health. He was condemned for our justification and went to hell

55 | P a g e

so that we will not see hell on earth and in the world to come. God made Him to suffer for our sins. He gave Him as an offering for sin (Heb 7:22; 9:28), that knew no sin nor committed any sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corin. 5:21-22). And He was obedient to the will of the Father, even to the death of the cross so that as by Adam‟s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by His obedience shall many (including you and I) be made righteous. That as sin has reigned in death, over so might grace reign through His righteousness to bring eternal life (to all) by Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom 5:19, 21). JESUS BORNE OUR SINS AND CARRIED AWAY THE JUDGEMENT OF DEATH He did not only carry our sins on His body on the cross, he also took our death which is the punishment of sin. He took both the spiritual death, physical death and second death. HE TOOK AWAY SPIRITUAL DEATH 56 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

He took the spiritual death when He cried father why has thou forsaken me on the cross, he was separated from the life and presence of God because of our sins he bore on the cross (Matthew 27:46); He did this so that He can be our peace and the mediator between God and man reconciling us back to God. By this death, we have peace with God, a right standing with God, justified in His sight,

and have eternal

assess to God. His death made eternal life to be available to us and His presence abides with us forever (Eph. 2:13-18;1 Tim. 2:5; Gal. 3:20; Rom. 5:1). HE TOOK AWAY PHYSICAL DEATH He took the physical death when He yielded up the ghost (death) (Matthew 27:50,); death did not take Him nor did they killed Him just like. He said in: John 10;18 „No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again‟. 57 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

He did this so that we will not die untimely or accidentally or prematurely or be killed by the enemy. By this death, the devil has lost the authority to kill us. We now have authority over the devil and death. We can determine how long we live so as to fulfill our days and purposes on earth. We are to be satisfied with long life(Ps. 91:16; Exo. 23:26). HE TOOK AWAY SECOND DEATH He died the second death when He went to hell for three days and three nights to spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them triumphing over them (Col 2:15). He destroyed him that had the power of death which is the devil and to deliver those who were in bondage (Heb 2:14). He stripped satan of his authority over man and took the keys of death and of hade (Rev 1: 18; Mathew 28:18-19) so that we will no longer be under the bondage of satan and hell. satan and death has lost their authority over us. Hell has lost our residence in it now and in the world to come. We now have the authority in the name of Jesus (Mark 16:18-20). 58 | P a g e

Indeed, Jesus suffered all the punishment that was due to us. He heavily paid our debt and God accepted His payment as final. He suffered enough. Our sins and transgressions were fully punished in Christ. So we need not to be punished again for our sins. That will be injustice. Isaiah 53:3-12 gives an expository insight of the suffering of Jesus Christ on our behalf. (Please pay attention to this scripture, because herein lies the faith of our salvation). Isaiah 53:3-12 “He [Jesus Christ] is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with griefs … Surely, He hath borne [carried away] our griefs [sicknesses] and carried away our sorrows [pains]: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement [punishment] of our peace [with God] was laid upon him and with his stripes we are healed… 59 | P a g e

the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was cut off out of the kind of living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And made his grave with the wicked and the rich in his death…. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruised, he hath put him to grief [on our behalf]: when thou shall make his soul an offering for our sins …. Because he poured out his soul into death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bares the sin of many [including your] and made intercession for the transgressors” Glory be to God! What a substitute we have in Christ Jesus. Thank you Jesus! He did not only carry our sins, He took away the death punishment and He also makes intercession for us today. He was delivered for our offenses and was raised again for our justification (Roman 4:25). Hallelujah! He delivered us from our sins and by His resurrection we are declared righteousness. As our substitutionary sacrifice, we were identified with Him that is we were in complete union with Him 60 | P a g e

in His substitutionary sacrifices. The scripture say so in: Gal. 2:20 says “I am crucified with Christ …..” and Eph 2:5-6; 1:21-22 which say „He hath quickened us together with Christ (by grace ye are saved:) and hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places

Lord Jesus paid the debt that I could never pay” Glory be to God! Jesus has paid the debt; we need not pay it again. For no debt is paid twice. He assumed the penalty of death on our behalves, so we are legally absolved of the penalty. In the court of justice, no crime is punished twice; no debt can be paid twice. And God is not unjust. By his death, we are restored back to God as though no wrong had ever been done. Since Jesus Christ suffered the penalty we deserved, He did it in our name and on our behalf, the moment we believe in His finished work, we are no longer guilty before God and will never be judged for our sins. The judgment we deserved was assumed by Christ, our substitute, in our name and in our place, and that judgment can never be imposed on us again. He has borne all our sins including yours (past, present and future) and its penal consequences on the cross. You don‟t need to suffer in and for your sins again. Through His cross, he crushed the power of sins and its penalty. 63 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

By the cross, He also proved (1) that you are valued by God (2) that you are so loved by God (3) that all your sins had already been punished (4) that God cared for you ever before you knew about Him and (5) that God had already redeemed you and that all you had to do was hear about His love and salvation plan for you, believe it, accept it and confess it. The cross shows that Christ has done it all. He has brought salvation to all men. SALVATION IS FOR ALL Titus 3:16 „For the grace of God that salvation has appeared to all men (including you)‟ Salvation is meant for all men. When God says all men; He meant all men irrespective of their past, race, tribe, color, religion, tradition, status, educational background whether they are prostitutes, murders, kidnappers, terrorist, pagans, alcoholics, fornicators, liars, witches or wizards, adulteress etc. For all are sinners. Remember, we all have sinned by Adam‟s 64 | P a g e

disobedience. But Christ has come to die for all. All are made righteous by Christ obedience. Christ came for all. Christ is for all. Salvation is for all. It is a free and gracious gifts of God through Jesus Christ to every one- every sinner in the world. And anyone that dares to believe what He did on the cross of Calvary is saved and shall not perish. For God is no respecter of persons. He said in His word in Rom 10:13 “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved” and in John 3:16 “Whosoever shall believe on Him should not perished but have everlasting life” You are included in this salvation plan. Don‟t exclude yourself. Yes, I mean you; that is reading this book now. It doesn‟t matter who you are or where you come from or what you have done in the past or the sin you are struggling with now. Jesus Christ is calling 65 | P a g e

you now. He is here not to condemn you but to saved you from all your sins and guilt (John 3:17). Though your sins may be as scarlet and red like crimson (Isaiah 1:18). I can hear Jesus saying to you “your sins cannot be greater or stronger than the cleansing, forgiving and purifying power of my blood. Behold, I have forgiven you. I forgave you on the cross. Come as you are and you will be wash, cleanse, save and justify by my precious blood and you will be as white as snow and a new creation with no trace of sin but fill with My righteousness” (1 John 1:7-9; 2 Sam 2:17). Beloved, now is the time of your salvation. Salvation is yours. It is a done deed by God; He did it through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Take advantage of this moment and rise to this divine call. Don‟t allow the devil to cheat out of God‟s salvation and love plan for you. Shun him by accepting this call. Accept the call now. CHAPTER 7

-HOW YOU CAN BE SAVED IN ONE MINUTERomans 10:9 “..that if they shall confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in their heart that God hath raised him from the deed, thou shalt be saved.”

In showing how you can be saved in one minute, I would like to narrate an account of a man that got saved in the scripture in Acts 16:22-34. The truth in this scripture will reveal the simple yet powerful way of getting saved and get you establish in the salvation that is in Christ Jesus. The account is about a Roman army officer who was appointed to be the jailer of the prison where Paul 67 | P a g e

and Silas were unjustly jailed for preaching the gospel. At about mid night of the same day when Paul and Silas were arrested, they prayed and sang praises to God. Suddenly, a miracle occurred, there was a violent earthquake that shook the foundations of the prison and the prison doors were opened. The jailer, who was asleep, woke up and saw what had happened, drew out his sword to kill himself thinking they escaped because he knew what will befall him if truly they have escaped. But Paul cried out with a loud voice and rebuked him not to kill himself for thee have not escaped. He reached out for a light and rushed into the prison. Seeing them, he marveled and trembled at the feet of Paul and Silas. And he asked a life changing question in verse 30: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved”, Paul and Silas replied him in verse 31: “BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS AND YOU WILL BE SAVED, YOU AND YOUR HOUSEHOLD”. Beloved, this is it - this is the only way you can be saved „BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST’. For He is the way, the truth and the life, no one can 68 | P a g e

come to the father except through Him. (John 14:8). To believe in the Lord Jesus means that you believe that Jesus Christ came to die for yours sin and was raised up by God, the Father for your justification and you accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is the key to your salvation. Acts 4:12. Says “For neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among man, whereby we must be saved”. Also, John 3:15-18 says: „and as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is 69 | P a g e

not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God‟. Though, Jesus has made salvation available to all through His finished work, it is your believing in Him that get you saved. Believing in Him and accepting Him appropriate and make salvation to be real to you. Rom. 10:8-13 crowns it all by saying “But what said it? The word is nigh thee, even in the month, and in the heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if they shall confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in their heart that God hath raised him from the deed, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 70 | P a g e

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” When you believe Him, you confess Him YOU WILL BE SAVED. Because what you believe is what you confess. (Confession is the expression and articulation of your belief. It gives action to your belief). And what you confess is what you posses. Confession precedes possession. So, you are saved by believing and confessing the Lord Jesus. You believe unto righteousness and confess unto salvation. This believing and confessing JESUS as your Lord is done by praying a prayer of salvation. And praying this prayer doesn‟t take a minute just like the jailer even though you can continue praying as the Spirit of God leads after praying this prayer. It is clear you are not far from salvation, it is near thee. It is within your reach. It is in your heart and it is in your mouth now. So, posses it now in the name of Jesus as you pray this prayer.

71 | P a g e

PRAYER OF SALVATION Please, pray this prayer loud, don‟t just say it in your heart; say it out with your mouth. “Dear Father, I come to you today in the name of Jesus. I believe in my heart that you sent Jesus Christ, your beloved Son to come and died for my sins and You raised Him up on the third day for my Justification. Today, I ask Jesus Christ to come into my heart to be the Lord of my life. I accept and confess Him as my Lord and personal Savoir. For Your Word says in Rom 10:9 “that if I shall confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the death, Then I shall be saved” I declare that I am saved; I am born again; I am a child of God; I am a new creation in Christ; I now Christ and eternal life dwelling in me, and greater is He that is in one then he that is the world (1 John 4:4). I now walk in the consciousness of my new life in Christ Jesus. Halleluiah! Christ has set me free and I am free indeed. Amen”. 72 | P a g e

Salvation Is For All Including You

Congratulations! You are now a child of God. You are now saved. Christ has set you free from all your sins and you are free indeed. This is what I mean when I said you can be saved in one minute by praying this prayer in the name of Jesus. And the prayer did not take more than one minute but you are saved. It is not the length of prayer but the confession of your faith in the finished work and Lordship of Jesus Christ. This is what saves you. Congratulations once again. Now that you are saved what next!

CHAPTER 8

-NOW THAT YOU ARE SAVED-

Ephesians 5:8 “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:”

You need to be conscious of some vital truth about your new status and heritage in Christ. I will tell you few of them and give you some instructions to help you grow in this new found faith in Christ Jesus. And I will encourage you to get a bible if you don‟t have one because there will a lot of scriptures to read so that you can know it for yourself. It is good to be saved! You are now a child of God You are now a beloved child of a loving God. God is your lovely Father. You are part of the family of God. 74 | P a g e

Salvation Is For All Including You

You are partaker of His nature. His Spirit and His presence dwell in you. The greater one lives in you. God is in, with and for you. His life, love, righteousness, peace, joy, wisdom, strength, blessing and power reside in you. (Rom. 8:16-17; Gal. 3:26; John 1:12; 1 Jhn 3; 1-2) You are now a citizen of heaven You are now a citizen of Heaven and a partaker of the commonwealth of Israel, the blessings of Abraham and the covenants of promise. (Eph. 2:19, Phil. 3:20) You are now a new creature You are now a new creature in Christ Jesus and the righteousness of God in Him. You are righteous in Christ. Your righteousness and salvation is of God. Old things are passed away and all things are become new. You have passed from death to life. You now have eternal life dwelling in your spirit. (2 Corin. 5:1821; Rom. 5:14-21) You have received Eternal Life

75 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

Being saved means you have received eternal life. Eternal life is the very life of God. It is the nature and essence of God. And this life is in His son, whosoever have His son has the life. By receiving Jesus Christ, you have also received eternal life in your spirit. You have passed from death to life. You are exempted from the damnation of God against the world of sin. ( John 3:16; 1 John 3:14; 5:11-13) You now have dominion over satan and evil devices You are now seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus far above principalities, and powers, and kingdoms, and rulers. You are in authority and dominion over satan, death, sin, his evil work and his agents. They are all beneath your feet in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:20-23:2-6; Lk. 10:18-20) You are saved by grace It is by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast including you (Eph. 2:8-9). Your boasting should not be in your works but in the 76 | P a g e

finished work of Christ. Because sometimes you will fail in doing what is right so relying on your works will get us frustrated. But you should rely on the work that Jesus did on the cross. Jesus never failed and He will never fail. He did what is right once and for all on the cross. So the basis of your faith of salvation should be not on your works but on the finished work of Christ. So, rest in His finished work. His finished work is the solid rock of your salvation. You were saved by faith in His finished work and you will remain saved by the same faith in His finished work. However, Jesus died for you so you can live for him. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph. 2:10). Though we are not saved by good works but we are saved to do good works that were before ordained for us so that we can be a blessing to others and be a channel by which God‟s love will reach out and saved others; bringing glory to our God even as rewards are stored for us to enjoy on earth and in the world to come. As beloved child of a Love God, His love has 77 | P a g e

been shared abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit that dwells in you; let this love flows through you and show it to others. You are the light of the world and the salt of the earth so let your light so shine before men so that they will see your good works and give glory to God. You are saved to save others so shine the light of faith to others as God will be leading you by His spirit dwelling in you. (Mt. 5:14-16; 1 Jhn. 3:11) You need Knowledge But this will be easy and possible as you enjoy and spend quality time of fellowship with God by studying His word, praying, praising and worshipping. So get a bible for yourself if you don‟t have one and other good Christian books for spiritual nourishment and understanding

with spiritual gifts for the work of the kingdom and show you things to come. And that person is the Holy Ghost. The same way you got saved by faith, you can also receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost through faith. If you want to fill with the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongue just say this prayer now and receive Him by faith. (Acts 1:16; 2:2-4; Jhn 14:17; 15:26; 16:13) Prayer to Receive the Holy Ghost Baptism Father I believe that You have sent the Holy Ghost as a gift to all those who are saved and washed by the blood of Jesus. Today, in the name of Jesus I receive the outpouring of your Spirit upon my life with evidence of speaking in tongues. Thank Father for your spirit! If you prayed this prayer just lift up your hands and begin to worship God and begin to speak as He gives you utterance. You need Water baptism 79 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

Water baptism is the physical declaration of your inward conviction and allegiance to the Lordship of Jesus. So get baptized in water by immersion and not by sprinkling. Let it be done in the name of Jesus. This is one of the reasons you need to join a local church around you so that you get baptized in water by immersion (Acts 10:47-48; 19:5; Rom. 6;3-4). Pray! Pray! Prayer is your life wire of communication and fellowship with God in your new found faith in Christ Jesus. God is ready to hear and answer you at all times and in every where as you call upon Him. So take advantage of this privilege and pray always for all things with thanksgiving unto your heavenly Father in the name of Jesus (Lk. 18:18; Rom. 12:12; Eph. 6:18: Phil. 4:13; 1 Tess. 5:17). You need to join a local church Forsake not the gathering of the saint. You need a local church where you can have the right company to grow in the faith. So, ask God to direct you to a local church where you can be nourish with the word of 80 | P a g e

God, encourage and be strengthen in the faith, and serve God and others in the faith with your resources, talents and gifts (Heb. 10:25; Acts 4:23). Present your body as a living sacrifice I beseech that you present your body as a living sacrifice; holy and acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptance and perfect will of God. Forsake evil communications and friendships because they corrupt good manners. And abstain from all appearance of evil. (Rom. 12:1-2; 1 Corin. 15:33) Share your new faith One of the ways to grow in the faith is to share your faith with others. Be a soul winner. Learn to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and get souls saved. You were saved to save others. So when you see a sinner, don‟t condemn him or her rather share the gospel to him or her. They need Jesus. No matter how bad they are, 81 | P a g e

they are not too bad to be saved. They too can be saved just like you. (Acts 1:7-8) Finally,

Be

CHAPTER 9

-HOW TO KNOW THAT YOU’RE SAVEDI John 5:13 „These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God‟.

I thought to add this chapter to this book because of the question a young lady asked me some days ago while introducing this book to her. The question is thus: how do I know that I am saved? This question caught my interest because it reminds me of how I once asked myself this question when I was naive in the faith. And, I struggled with the answer until the Holy Ghost enlightened my eyes through the scriptures and studying a book titled 83 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

„Growing up spiritually‟ by Kenneth E. Hagins (I will encourage to get this book and also „Now that you are saved‟ by Reihnard Bonkke‟ and study them if you can. They will enrich you.) Also, I know some believers are presently struggling with this same question and its answer. Immediately, I gave her the answers through the help of the Holy Ghost and scriptures, the Holy Ghost whispered to my spirit that this should be included as a chapter in this book. Because there are many out there who are saved but are not sure of their salvation as such they are struggling with their faith and living like mere men. But penning down the answers for them to assess will end their struggles and empower them to live victoriously in life. The question of „how to know that one is saved?‟ is a question of having assurance of salvation and the only way to get this assurance is to go the scripture and find out what it says. WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURES?

84 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

It is important to know that the foundation by which we assured that we are saved is what the scripture says. Putting our faith on what the scriptures say and not based on our feelings or what people say is what assures us of our salvation. There is no doubt some of us might have felt some goose pimples on the first day we were saved and after that we are not having such feelings. As such we begin to question and get confused about our salvation. The scripture says „we walk by faith and not by sight (feeling)‟ (2 Corin. 5:7), and „we are saved by grace through faith and not by works‟ (Eph. 2:5-6). If we are saved by faith then we are assured that we are saved by faith too. Faith saves us, faith assures us. Faith is based on what the word of God says and not based on our feelings or efforts because our feelings and works are unstable and temporal but the word of God is eternal and stands forever. It is immovable and remains the same in all circumstances. But our feelings can be affected by circumstances, by our health, by the humidity, by how much sunlight we get. A lot of things affect our feelings that have nothing to 85 | P a g e

do with whether or not you are a Christian. We are Christians based not on your feelings, but on the promises of Jesus and the words of Scripture. So, what the Word says is our assurance and the solid rock upon which we need to stand to know and be sure that we are saved. From the scripture, below are the major assurances of our salvation in Christ Jesus. GOD’S PROMISES CONCERNING SALVATION Firstly, we are assured that we are saved because of God promises concerning salvation in His Word. His promises are the assurance of our salvation because His promises in Christ Jesus are yes and amen (2 Corin. 1:5) this implies that it cannot be negated, God is not a man that He should lied or the son of man that He should repent if He said it, He will do it. His promises are sure word. His word will never fail. His Word is Truth. His truth is everlasting. Here are some of His unchanging promises of His salvation for us: Joh. 3:14-16 86 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Rom. 10:8-11 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with

the

heart

man

believeth

unto

righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 1Jn. 5:9-13

87 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Heb. 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that comes unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Joh. 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal 88 | P a g e

life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. These scriptures reveal God‟s promises of salvation to us and they are the assurance of salvation in Christ (Rom. 4:16; 2 Pet. 1:19) THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST The finished work of Christ is another assurance of our salvation. If I may ask you these questions: are we saved by our works? No. By whose work are we saved? Christ‟s work. Did Christ finish His work on the earth? Yes. Did He leave any work undone? No. Can anyone undo the finished work of His Christ? No. Is God pleased with His finished work? Yes. Did He accept and confirm it as a done deed? Yes, He did. Then we need not doubt that we are saved in Him (Rom. 10:67; 1 Corin. 2:2; 5). The credibility and completeness of the finished work of Christ is the foundation of our salvation. As 89 | P a g e

You Too Can Be Saved

long as the finished work cannot be undone by any man or power then our salvation through faith in Him is a done deed and sure (Acts 13:34). WITNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT When we got saved, God becomes present in our lives through the Holy Spirit. He puts us in touch with God and relate to Him as our father (Rom. 8:15). He brings and makes real God‟s presence, God‟s love and God‟s power in our lives. He enables us to live as Christ lived and gives the certain we need about our faith. (Rom. 5:5) He is the seal of our salvation (Eph. 1:13). He stamps and secures our salvation in Christ. He is the guarantee of our salvation and He cannot fail in His assignment in the salvation plan for us (Eph. 1:14). He is the ONE that bears witness or testifies with our spirits that we are the children of God thereby assuring us of our salvation (Rom. 8:16). He speaks with a still small voice in our spirits comforting, encouraging, strengthening and affirming to us that we are the children of God when we fail or don‟t feel 90 | P a g e

ANIETIE HANSON| www.triumphinginlife.blogspot.com|

Salvation Is For All Including You

like we are. He reminds us of what Christ has done for us through His finished work (Jhn. 15:26). He teaches and remembers us who we are, what we have, and what we can do in Him (Jhn. 14:26). He also guides us in the truth and shows us things to come. (Jhn. 16:13). In view of this, our faith should also lie in the witness of the Holy Spirit in our spirit. His abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in us is the assurance of our salvation in Christ. There is no fret or perturbed by the instability of our feelings. Rather we should learn to acknowledge and appreciate His presence in our lives even when it looks as if we don‟t feel Him knowing that the scriptures says He will abides in us forever (Jhn. 14:26) whether when we feel or don‟t feel Him. The more we do this, the more we know Him and the more we walk in the consciousness of the assurance of our salvation in Christ Jesus. Glory to God!
