Scientific Paper Guidelines Theme: Sexually Transmitted Infections, Endless Battles with Humans, or Infections which can be Eradicated Target: Medical students, medical professionals, policy makers Objective:    

To grow awareness of the problems caused by Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in a country To recognize the role of the government, healthcare system, community and individuals in the detection, prevention and management of STIs in a country Understand the knowledge about development and STIs and underlying factors that affect its outcome To allow dialog and exchange of knowledge among countries regarding infection transmitted by sexual activities and initiate discussion and continuation to resolve the problem

Guidelines: 1. Choose a Sexually Transmitted Infections that considered important in your country and provide a brief introduction of the disease, in introduction section which should include: a. Pathologic basis of the disease(s) b. Management of the disease(s) 2. Develop scientific paper from clinical based research and/or scientific models of inquiry (randomized controlled trial, systematic review, cohort, etc., but NOT literature review) to give a detailed overview that includes but may not be limited to ANY of the following: a. Prevalence of the STIs b. Pathological basis of the STIs c. Transmission of the STIs d. Efficacy and/or non-efficacy and/or adverse effect of current pharmacological treatment e. Preventive effort or policies against the STIs 3. Based on evidence-based clinical research that suggests effectiveness, propose: a. Difficulties that can arise from the effort from the perspective of patient, medical professionals, society and government b. Preventive or management effort to control further spread or complication of the disease c. The involvement of medical students in aforementioned proposed preventive or management effort

Entry Requirement Criteria for Selection: 1. Only 1 (one) entry allowed from each region

2. The shortlist, consisting of top 10 entries, will be given a chance to present the paper at conference* *The paper will be first judged according to the content upon submissions

Abstract: 1. File should be saved in .pdf extension 2. Language: English only (If there is any local word contained in the abstract please translate it into English) 3. Word limit: 400 (excluding title and authors) 4. File name: Paper_Abstract_Region (e.g. Paper_Abstract_Indonesia) 5. Font: Times New Roman size 10 6. Spacing: Single 7. Sections (may be separated per section or not in a whole abstract): a. Title b. Name of the chapter and authors c. Faculty of the authors d. Background e. Material and methods f. Results g. Discussions h. Conclusions 8. Contact details of Regional Chairperson and Directors of Authors (Name, e-mail address and phone number)

Complete Science Paper: 1. File should be saved in .pdf extension 2. Language: English only (If there is any local word contained in the abstract please translate it into English) 3. Word limit: 4000 (excluding title, authors and references) 4. File name: Paper_Full_Region (e.g. Paper_Full_Indonesia) 5. Font: Times New Roman size 12 6. Spacing: 1,5 7. Sections: a. Title page (title, region and authors) b. Introductions c. Materials and methods d. Results e. Discussions f. Conclusions g. References (APA style, please refer to www.apastyle.org for further details)

8. Tables and figures: a. Individually provided in separate files b. Tables and figures should be saved in .JPEG or .TIFF format c. File name: i. Table: Paper_Region_Table-number (e.g Paper_Indonesia_Table1) ii. Figure: Paper_Region_Figure-number (e.g Paper_Indonesia_Figure1) d. Resolutions should be 300 dpi (minimum) e. Compression must be set to maximum quality to prevent pixelated appearance

Submission Procedures and Deadline: 1. The abstract and complete paper should be submitted by 24th November 2014 (GMT +7) 2. 10 teams shortlisted will be announced on 15th December 2014 3. The Regional Chairperson of each region should be in charge of collecting the abstract and complete paper and submit to EAMSC 2015 academic department via our email [email protected] 4. Once the file is received, the 28th EAMSC Organizing Committee will send confirmation e-mail to the Regional Chairperson 5. The Regional Chairperson should submit the presentation files (Powerpoint) upon registration on 10th January 2015 6. E-mail format: “Scientific Paper Final – Region” (e.g. “Scientific Paper Final – Indonesia)

Oral Presentation 1. File Format: Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation (.ppt or .pptx) 2. Language: English only 3. Length: o 8 minutes will be allotted for the presentation o There will be a warning bell at the 2 minutes left o 7 minutes will be allotted for the Q&A 4. Presenters: Maximum 3(three) persons

Title panel (AMSA chapter, authors, universities, …) b. Introduction c. Material and methods d. Results e. Discussion f. Conclusion 7. References (APA style, please refer to www.apastyle.org for further details)

Public Poster Guidelines Theme: Sexually Transmitted Infections, Endless Battles with Humans, or Infections which can be Eradicated Target: Public Objective:   

To enhance understanding and raise the awareness of difficulties that patient, medical professionals and society can face because of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) To recognize the role of community and individuals in the detection, prevention and management of STIs in a country To allow participants to assume what one can do in overseeing the management STIs

Guidelines: a. Introduce a STIs of primary concern in your country b. Describe the difficulties that can arise during the care and management of this STIs c. Thinks of ways that public can participate in prevent or treat STIs, a slogan or catchphrase must be included d. The end product (public poster) will consist mainly of graphic and design

Public Poster (Oral Presentation): 1. Public posters will be displayed at the board 2. Language: English only 3. Length: o 3 minutes will be allotted for the presentation o 2 minutes will be allotted for the Q&A 4. Presenters: Maximum 2 (two) persons

Each group moderator(s) should have a laptop to take note of the vote of their group members via Google Docs sheet 3. Delegates are given 3 votes, each for 3 different entries. Delegates are not allowed to vote their own region’s entries 4. Initials, regions and group number are collected to ensure delegates do not vote more than one and or vote their own region’s entries 5. Votes collected from the group moderator(s) will be collated together with judge’s evalution

Make an advertisement-type video (may be courtesy, direct shoot, or animation technique) on a STIs of your choice, describing the condition of STIs in society and what people think about it, as well as what an individual can do to help overcome the difficulties caused and or prevent the transmission of STIs

Video (Presentation): 1. The video will be showed between lecture and paper presentation 2. The video will be also showcased in poster exhibition

Criteria Video Delegate’s Vote: 100%
