Appendix C Eligibility and Non-Eligibility for Extra-Curricular Activities and School Sponsored Events Eligibility for School Trips (including 8th grade trip), dances (including 8th grade dinner dance), and all non-academic extra-curricular activities (sports, clubs, with the exception of Homework Club) Students may not attend dances/special events/extra-curricular activities during a suspension or Saturday School (including weekends), or if they are absent on the day the event occurs. Extenuating circumstances will be reviewed by the Administration. Parents and students are reminded that extra-curricular activities constitute an extension of the school’s authority over the behavior and actions of students. The Code of Conduct clearly explains the consequences of misbehavior under such circumstances. If a student is suspended, out of school (OSS), multiple times and/or charged with a criminal offense by the school district, he/she will be required to meet with the Superintendent, assistant principal, and parent(s)/guardian(s). At that time, the student will be excluded from participation in all non-academic extra-curricular activities, based on the leveled system below. The activities listed include, but are not limited to: ● Two (2) OSS, the student will be excluded from: ○ Non-academic trips ○ 8th Grade Trip (current 8th grade students) ○ Talent Shows ● Three (3) OSS, the student will be excluded from: ○ Dances and Formals ○ 8th Grade Dinner Dance ○ Athletic team, Club participation, and/or extra-curricular performance productions ● Four (4) OSS, the student will be excluded from: ○ Graduation ceremony participation Any student (at any grade level) may also be denied grade level privileges based upon the severity of the discipline infraction.
