FORDHAM COLLEGE AT ROSE HILL OFFICE OF THE DEAN
Dear FCRH Freshman: Good afternoon. As the fall 2017 semester concludes, I highlight five (5) important items. (1) Last Day of Classes: Friday, December 8. College Reading/Study Days: Monday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 12. *Note that some students have their modern language final exam that Tuesday. Check with your professor.
(2) Final Exam Schedule: https://www.fordham.edu/info/21360/academic_records_registrar/2716/final_exams_schedule_for_ undergraduates
(3) Multiple Final Exams on One Day: Students who have three (3) exams scheduled for one day may consult with their instructors to schedule an alternate date/time to take one of these exams. Before doing so, please carefully double check, since it is uncommon that a student would have three scheduled final exams on the same day.
(4) Some Advice: The end of semester can be stressful for many college students and professors. Be mindful of the various resources and support services available, including the Counseling & Psychological Services Office (Lower Level, O'Hare Hall, (718) 817-3725). Academic departments offer tutoring services that you may find helpful in preparing for exams. Additionally, tutors are available at The Writing Center (Walsh Library, Reference Area, Room 121, https://fordham.mywconline.com/) to assist you with your writing and argumentation skills. If you need additional assistance during this time, contact your core advisor or the Freshman Dean's Office. Remember, there is no substitute for good old-fashioned studying. I encourage you to use the reading days to read/study for your exams and final projects and to pace your studying. You have the talent to succeed.
(5) Final Notes: Your fall 2017 final course grades are only available to you on your my.fordham Student Tab under "Student Grades." Professors are instructed to submit final course grades within 72 hours after the final exam. Tuesday, January 16 is the first day of classes for the spring 2018 semester. It will follow a Tuesday academic schedule. Below, I offer a prayer for students from St. Thomas Aquinas. I wish you well on your final exams, and for a Blessed Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year, and holiday season. Regards Dean Parmach

A Prayer for Students by St. Thomas Aquinas
Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all being, graciously let a ray of your light penetrate the darkness of my understanding. Take from me the double darkness in which I have been born, an obscurity of sin and ignorance. Give me a keen understanding, a retentive memory, and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally. Grant me the talent of being exact in my explanations and the ability to express myself with thoroughness and charm. Point out the beginning, direct the progress, and help in the completion. I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
