CITY OF MOBILE THE MOBILE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DOWTOWN MOBILE ALLIANCE ENVISION COASTAL ALABAMA AUBURN UNIVERISTY BARGE WAGGONER SUMNER AND CANNON Coastal Sustainability and Green Streets for Downtown Mobile The City of Mobile, The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and The Downtown Mobile Alliance invite Citizens, Business Owners and Public Officials to participate in a public design Charrette to be conducted for the purpose of receiving ideas and suggestions to inform development of leading edge concepts accommodating Downtown Mobile’s challenges with stormwater as well as the City’s opportunity for realization of a “green streets” initiative. Ideas and suggestions developed at the August 29th Charrette will inform a study facilitated by Auburn University as an outreach through the College of Architecture, Design and Construction’s, Landscape Architecture program. The study is funded by The Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium and will focus on a four block segment along Dauphin Street in Downtown Mobile, from and including Bienville Square to Cathedral Square: a study area encompassing approximately eight blocks in Downtown Mobile. The Charrette is an enjoyable informal event and you are invited to participate however your schedule permits. The day’s events including brainstorming and discussion will be facilitated by Auburn University Landscape Architecture professors, students and other professionals. Ideas will be captured graphically by graduate students through out the day and will be collectively presented to the public at the close of the Charrette on Saturday afternoon. Don’t miss this opportunity to participate! The Charrette and subsequent planning and design study have the potential to greatly enhance the aesthetic, economic, and cultural characteristics of Downtown Mobile while promoting the City’s sustainable vision and progressive development practices.

There is no cost for admission to the public design charrette. General admission to the Museum of Mobile is $5 for adults, $4 seniors, $3 for students, and free for children under 6.
