FameLab Thailand 2017 Open for Applications Now!
 Get a chance to win a trip to the UK and visit and lab or research institute of your choice. If you are aged between 18-40 and think you can explain a scientific concept in just three minutes in a clear, concise and accurate way in front of a jury and a live audience. It is not about dumbing science down, but it is about bringing it to life to inspire and entertain, you can win some fantastic prizes. United Kingdom – University of Nottingham Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for Research Excellence. Deadline 10 March 2017 38 full tuition fees scholarships in Arts, Medicine and Health Sciences, Science and Social Sciences for students to start a full-time research degree programme, PhD or MPhil at Nottingham campus with a start that falls between 1 October 2017 and 1 February 2018 (inclusive). Netherlands - Holland Scholarships for Bachelor’s and Master’s Candidates. Students from ASEAN Eligible The Holland Scholarships are meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s in the Netherlands. Deadlines: either 1 February 2017 or 1 May 2017, depending on the institution. More info here.

Europe: MSCA Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) Call. ASEAN Researchers and Research Staff Eligible. Call Now Open. Deadline 5 April, 2017 MSCA-RISE aims at international and inter-sector collaboration through promoting research and innovation exchanges of staff. MSCA-RISE will support short-term mobility of research and innovation staff at all career levels, from the most junior (post-graduate) to the most senior (management), including administrative and technical staff. Germany: Humboldt Foundation International Climate Protection Fellowship for Young Climate Experts from Developing Countries. ASEAN Researchers Eligible. Deadline 1 March, 2017 Spend a year working with a host of your choice in Germany on a research-based project you have developed yourself in the field of climate protection and climate-related resource conservation. Twenty fellowships for future leaders from a non-European transition or developing countries, including those in ASEAN. Details here. Deadline 1 March, 2017

United Kingdom - Wellcome Trust Senior Fellowships in Public Health and Tropical Medicine. ASEAN Researchers Eligible. This scheme supports outstanding researchers from low, middle-income or upper-middleincome countries to establish themselves as leading investigators at an academic institution in a low and middle-income country location. Research should be aimed at understanding and improving public health and tropical medicine of local, national and global relevance. Details here.

European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grants. Deadline 9 February, 2017

Researchers from ASEAN Eligible.

ERC Consolidator Grant to support researchers of any nationality with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD at the stage at which they are consolidating their own independent research team or programme. Funding per grant up to 2 million euros. All research areas. Deadline: 9 February 2017. More info here.

Switzerland Becomes Fully Associated to Horizon 2020 As of 1 January 2017 until 31 December 2020 Switzerland is fully associated to Horizon 2020 and research institutions, organisations and SMEs based in Switzerland are able to submit proposals to all Horizon 2020 calls. Successful proposals will then be directly financed by the EU.

Switzerland: Ambizione Grants for Young Researchers to Conduct Research at a Swiss Higher Education Institution. Deadline 17 January, 2016 Ambizione grants are aimed at young researchers who wish to conduct, manage and lead an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution. ASEAN researchers are eligible. An Ambizione grant comprises the salary of the grantee and project funds. Whereas, an Ambizione project grant contains only project funds. The grants are awarded for a maximum of four years. More info here.

Event announcement: "Creating & Animating a Successful Alumni Network", Singapore, 23 January 2017 (2-5pm) This event addresses representatives of alumni groups in ASEAN that are affiliated with European institutions of higher education and research. The workshop will be led by Mr Nithi Nesadurai, Immediate Past President of Chevening Alumni Malaysia who will share his expertise on how to create, grow and animate a successful alumni network.
