Expectations for Computing Device Use School Device Model Plans ____________________________________________________________ In-School Programs Student access to computers is one way that Fairfield County School District enhances the learning opportunities for our students. Use of the devices is a privilege. Students who use a Chromebook at school are expected to follow Fairfield County School District’s Acceptable Use Policies (AUP), procedures and practices. These are available in hardcopy and on the district’s website. A prepaid device protection premium is not required. While there is no cost for the use of the device, it is imperative that the device the student is issued be maintained and handled in a responsible way. This plan is suitable for use with in-school programs or with the principal’s discretion. Damages will require the student to pay a handling fee, cost of repair, or replace the device in its entirety, depending upon the scope of the damage. Dear Parents/Guardians, Fairfield County School District is excited about the expansion of our Digital Learning Initiative (DLI) which will enable each student to have a device for his/her educational use in the classroom. This implementation of Chromebooks will ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn utilizing the same device at the same time. It is the district’s ongoing desire to provide equity to all students in every classroom. Students are expected to properly utilize the device for educational purposes. Students are expected to adhere to the following Student Usage Expectations:    

Never leave the Chromebook unattended. The Chromebook must be placed on a working surface. Carry the Chromebook closed with both hands at all times. Never grab the Chromebook by its screen.

While there is no cost for the use of the device, it is imperative that the device is maintained and handled in a responsible way. Damages will require the student to pay a handling fee, cost of repair, or replace the device in its entirety. Please review together with your child the attached expectations for the computing device. Please sign and return the acknowledgement below no later than September 11.
