Extension to Junior & Senior Schools The chairpersons of the BOM of both Scoil Mhuire Junior &Senior schools hereby confirm that the construction of the new extension for our schools is due to commence on Monday 26th June 2017. The contract for the proposed works has been awarded to Peak Construction Ltd. and it is anticipated that the works will take approximately 12 months to complete. The contractor will be carrying out the works from the school’s side of the property and there will be no access to the works through the Oaks or Elms, housing estates. There will be no excavation of the open space within the Elms housing estate adjacent to the site. For Health & Safety reasons, there will be a temporary fence erected along the boundary with the Elms housing estate for a period of approximately 2 months due to the difference in levels between the school site and the Elms. This is while the contractor is installing sheet piling adjacent to the existing hedgerow in order to retain the existing bank prior to the construction of a new retaining wall and fence on top of the wall. The contractor has been instructed to use his best endeavours to retain the existing hedgerow and has confirmed that he will do so.
