Welcome to Extra Time! Extra Time is Robert Kett Primary School’s Breakfast Club and After School Club, offering parents an extended school day. Our Breakfast Club opens at 7.30am, offering a great breakfast, as well as a chance to play. Our After-School Club operates from the end of the school day until 6pm - children are given a snack after school, as well as a two course evening meal and, of course, the necessary fun and games too! We also operate during the school half term breaks in February, October and May from 7.30am until 6pm. We are also able to accommodate siblings and children from other schools. We do hope that this booklet gives you all the information you need, but of course, do not hesitate to contact the school office for further information.

Summer Term Newsletter The sun is shining and the nights are drawing out which can mean only one thing… the summer term is upon us!! We have welcomed two new members of staff on board. Jack Bates, who has been previously volunteering with ExtraTime for his Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and, Emma Maxam, who is familiar with some of the children already, from her days at another out of school club.

During next half term we will be sending out letters requesting an update of hours required for next September. I know this seems early but we wish to accommodate those already using us before offering out sessions to the new intake of Years Reception and Year 3.

Work will start on the bungalow garden over the Easter holidays. We shall be moving fences to provide better access from the mobile and making other improvements to the garden. This will enable us to have our own dedicated outdoors space, with raised beds, wooden den houses and of course will mean we can have tea outside and much looked forward BBQ’s when the weather permits. We have started to take delivery of resources to be used with our new sandpit and water play features, as well as long term planning to have a small area to grow salad and flowers.

Breakfast Club Open every day, during school term-time and half-term holidays Offering a safe, secure and relaxed environment, with fun activities as well as a nutritious breakfast - the best start to the day. The club is open from 7.30am Children should arrive at the school mobile where they will be registered by our staff There are various games and fun activities before the children have breakfast at around 8am. There is always a choice of breakfast items to suit everyone. £3.25 per pupil per session (£1.25 for children receiving pupil premium funding)

Breakfast Menu Children attending Breakfast Club enjoy different breakfast options and are encouraged to choose a varied breakfast from our healthy menu. Each morning the children can choose from the ‘Daily Options’. As well as the daily options, we provide a ‘Breakfast of the Day’ choice too. After School Our After School Club offers child care from 3.15pm until 6.00pm and will be open every day during term-time and half-term holidays. Children will use the mobile classroom for their base, but will make full use of the school’s facilities during the club, including the Hall, ICT suite, Bungalow and Playing fields. There will be games, crafts, tents and much, much more (there’s also a quiet homework area!) but the real emphasis is, that this is fun! Straight after school, children are offered a snack and a drink, designed to give them a small, but nutritious bite to eat, until it’s time for their meal. At around 4.45pm children have their evening meal, as always, home-made by our Extra Time Chef. A vegetarian option is always available. Children are offered bread with their meal and can have freshfruit and/or yoghurt as an alternative dessert. If your child is attending a club, that starts at 4.30pm an earlier snack pack can be provided at 4.15pm. Children should be collected from the school mobile by 6pm at the latest. £9.50 per pupil per session (£7.50 for children receiving pupil premium funding)

We do not have a ‘fixed’ menu, as we try to make things varied and offer different dining experiences, for example picnics, barbeques and other ‘fun’ alternatives. Overleaf is an example of the range and types of food we offer.

Food intolerances We understand that some children do have intolerances, such as Gluten, Lactose, Dairy etc, or that you may wish to exclude certain food groups from your child’s diet. Children with these types of intolerances are welcome to eat the meal of the day and our Chefs always prepare ‘freefrom’ choices for all our menu options. Please make school aware of any intolerances. Food Allergens On our menu, we identify any of the 14 allergens, as identified by the Food Standards Agency, that may be present within our menu options. Half Term Holiday Club Extra time now offer child care during the school half term holidays. This year we are running our first ever Half Term Holiday Camp, and October and February have already been a great success! We received some fantastic feedback from parents and children…. ‘My child was really welcomed and enjoyed the day and is looking forward to going back in Feb’. ‘They came home with a goody bag full of things they had done. They loved the activities and food’ ‘Invaluable facility- I would have been very stuck without it and the children loved it.’

During October and February Half terms this year we have had days filled with lots of fun activities, including free play time with the outside equipment, making masks, making superhero masks and capes, making autumnal glitter globes, making pizzas, baking cakes and cookies, making our own bird feeders and valentines art, as well as using the sports hall on wet and windy days to play relay games, ‘IT’ and dodge ball, and even watching a film with popcorn! May half term is set for just as much fun, with Kite making and junk modelling amongst the list of exciting activities we have planned!

Half Term Holiday Club Half Term club is open 7.30am - 6.00pm and includes breakfast, snacks and evening meal all for just £19.50 per day, per child. You just need to provide your child with a home packed lunch! We are also able to take children, as well as brothers and sisters of primary school age, even if they don’t attend Robert Kett Primary School! - please call for more details. We are running this club May Half Term (30th May -2nd June) . In order to secure your child’s place please contact the school office on 01953 603405 or email [email protected]

More feedback from Parents and Children … ‘My child loved the activities, food was yummy and staff helped when needed. I am surprised to learn its the first time you’ve run it. ‘ ‘My child had a great time! She loved that she got to go to school in the holidays with all her friends!’ ‘Good variety of activities and fun things to do’

Please make sure that children have inhalers with them when using either the Breakfast or After School Club. At the end of the day, children will only be handed over to an authorised parent or carer. Please always let us know if someone else is picking up your children. In order to keep all our children safe, please do not drive up to or past the mobile. Please park at the front of school. Don’t forget plimsolls and appropriate hot, cold or wet weather clothing!
