Please Note:    

Student and at least one parent/legal guardian should create an FSA ID in order to complete the FAFSA a.

FSA IDs require a SSN and can be created via fsaid.ed.gov

Students or guardians who do not have a SSN should contact Ms. Martinez for case-specific instructions The FAFSA will use 2016 tax information RDS uses the student’s CFNC account login a.

If the student does not have a CFNC account, they can create one at cfnc.org or proceed with account creation on ncresidency.org

Quick Reference:  FAFSA: Completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid allows states and colleges to determine your eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid  FSA ID: used to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically signing your federal student aid documents  RDS: Residency Determination Services establishes if students should have in-state or out-ofstate tuition. This service enables a student to use one residency determination for admissions applications to multiple NC public colleges and universities and to demonstrate residency for state aid programs consideration at all NC colleges and universities.

Monday, Oct 16 at 5:30 PM in computer lab room 308 (English)*  Representatives from the State Employee’s Credit Union (SECU) and UNCW’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) will be present to help families complete the FAFSA Tuesday, Oct 17 at 3:30 PM in the counseling center*  Students/Guardians should email ([email protected]) or call (910-815-7091) Ms. Martinez to schedule an appointment during this time. Wednesday, Oct 18 at 5:30 PM in computer lab room 308 (English)*  Representatives from the SECU and UNCW’s OSFA will be present to help families complete the FAFSA Thursday, Oct 19 at 5:30 PM in computer lab room 308 (Spanish)*  CFNC’s Spanish Services Manager will be present to help Spanish-speaking families complete the FAFSA

*If time permits, families will be able to complete RDS after they submit the FAFSA during FAFSA Completion Week at HTHS. Still need help completing one of these processes?  State Employee’s Credit Union will assist members in completing the FAFSA application during normal business hours.
