Sunday 7 January 2018 Happy New Year! We never know quite what a year is going to bring, but thankfully God does! Let us embrace all he has for us this year and thank him for his love which never deserts us. And remember our verse for this year, the full text of which reads: 'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.' (Joshua 1:9)

A screening of 'The Shack' at St Mary's. St Mary's Book Club would like to invite you to a screening of the film 'The Shack' based on the book of the same name by William Paul Young. This will be on Friday 12 January at 7.30 for an 8.00 start. The film provides a moving insight into how faith encounters tragedy and in the process gives us a remarkable portrayal of the Trinity. There is plenty to think about in this film and we will take a while to discuss it after the showing. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome.
2018 Diaries at the ready - yes, a date for 2018 Sunday 28 January will be our South Crawley Parishwide service, which will be held at Holy Trinity in Tilgate at 10.30am. A wonderful opportunity for the three churches of the parish to come together to worship. Meeting Point resumes this Wednesday, 10th January at 2 o’clock in the hall. Please feel free to bring any leftover food goodies from Christmas to share - sandwiches will be provided. Crawley Borough Council, working in partnership with the Crawley Civil Military Partnership (CCMP) are looking to hear what residents have to say about the design of a war memorial to be placed in Memorial Gardens. The memorial was highlighted a key priority for the town by the CCMP and will remember those who have served in the Armed Forces and those who have lost their lives during conflict. Comments offering ideas regarding themes that residents feel should be reflected in the design; and materials that could be used and would look best are greatly welcomed. The information gathered at this stage will help to form the final design. The link to take you to the questionnaire is http://www.crawley.gov.uk/pw/ AbouttheCouncil/Getting_Involved/PUB243540 Additionally, there are three consultation events if you would like to offer your views to officers working on the project. Monday 8th January @ 11am - 2pm in Memorial Gardens Tuesday 9th January @ 11am - 2pm in Memorial Gardens Tuesday 9th January @ 4pm - 7pm in the Civic Hall
Please see Ann Dutton if you are interested in joining the Flower Donation Rota - this rota allows you to pay towards the wonderful floral decorations that our talented florists create to decorate the church every week. Each week a different person contributes to this fund - there are around half a dozen spaces if this is something you’d like to give towards. No flower arranging on your part is required! Daily Morning Prayer at 8.30am. All are welcome to join in this short meeting for prayer and Bible reading which usually occurs Tuesday - Friday of each week. The Truth Project. The Bishop of Horsham, who is our Bishop for Safeguarding, has written a letter regarding The Truth Project, which exists to respect the experience of survivors of sexual abuse. You will find copies of this letter on the table at the back of church. There is also a copy on the noticeboard. Tim and Ann would like to thank you for all your Christmas cards. Please accept as our card to you the text card for the year. Sadly, a computer error (!) means that it does not say on it 'Best wishes from Tim and Ann' but it does indeed come with our best wishes and prayers for you all in the coming year! A few Christmas Cards have made their way into the pigeonholes if you’d like to check to see if any are intended for you. Thanks The Lighthouse Project Crawley We hope you all had a lovely Christmas! It would be great to see lots of you at our termly prayer meeting next Wednesday, 4pm, at The Charis Centre (Town Barn Road). Prayer is such an important part of our ministry and we would love to share in that with you. Blessings, Lizzie and The Lighthouse Project team
