The department has well experienced and dedicated faculty members who are dedicated to nurture brilliant engineers. Most of the faculty members are from prestigious engineering colleges of very high repute including IIT, NIT and State Engineering colleges. The department is equipped with different lab and workshop facilities like Material Science & Testing Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, Heat & Mass Transfer Lab, Measurement Metrology Lab, Theory of Machines Lab, CAD/CAM Lab, Automobile & IC Engines Lab, Hydraulic Machine Lab, RAC Lab, Thermodynamics Lab, Engineering Mechanics Lab, and Computer Aided Engg. Graphics lab. All the laboratories in the department are well equipped to carry out the experiments. ME department has also developed good contacts with industries and many students take up their internship training / project works in these industries. The department organizes many training / faculty development programs for the faculty / technical staff and students periodically. Invited lectures from renowned personalities are regularly arranged for the benefit of the students and staff members of the department. The department encourages the faculty and students to attend conferences, workshops and other training programs to enhance their technical skills. About the FDP The FDP aims at exposing the participants to an advanced world of microcontrollers. This will help them correlate with the advances in the embedded systems. Earlier embedded systems were based on 8 bit microcontrollers but currently embedded designs have become very complex. Therefore there is a need to learn the advanced microcontrollers and their applications. The FDP is also intended in developing basic programming skills for building microcontroller applications. The FDP will cover Microcontrollers from Intel, Texas Instruments, Microchip, ARM, DSP and many more.
The objectives of AKTU sponsored One week faculty development program are • Familiarization the participants to a variety of microcontrollers used today to build embedded systems. • Create awareness of selecting a microcontroller for a particular application. • Provide the hands on experience in programming a wide range of microcontrollers. • Expose to application development using microcontrollers.
FDP Topics:
Finite Element Method
Smart materials
3-D Printing
Modeling and simulation of metal casting
Learning Outcome: After attending this FDP faculties will be able to: Material Selection And Treatment • Identify role of alloys in steel • Illustrate heat treatment cycles and methods to modify the properties of materials. • Analyze micro - structures of steel and its alloying elements. • Select the steel grade based on application. Machine Design • Identify the process of designing for machines. • Select the raw materials, bearings and other hardware for the various parts of machine • Evaluate the design. • Issue of documents for manufacturing.
Machine Tool Manufacturing • Select machines and range of machines being made. • Differentiate the various operations being performed by the latest machines. • Discuss robotic welding and its advantages. • Identify the latest trends and future expectations. Machine Tools And Inserts • Express nomenclature for inserts. • Choose types of cutting tools, inserts and Grades. • Analyze the effect on cutting parameters by wrong selection of tools and inserts. • Identify trends and future expectations.
