Maryland Public Information Act Request regarding 2015 water testing Our File No.: 16-99-0033
Dear Ms. Scarato: This letter is written in response to your Maryland Public Information Act request for the following: Any and all written documentation of the testing done on lead levels for the water at PGCPS schools - from drinking fountain to tap water to any water source- for the year of 2015. I have enclosed a copy of lead test results for Ardmore Elementary school in August 2015. Last summer, the main water line (from the street into the building) was replaced at the school. In addition, the sink faucets and water fountain fixtures were replaced throughout the school building. A preliminary test, undertaken after these actions and following a building wide flushing of the pipes, indicated that the water is safe to drink. However, in an abundance of caution, we are continuing to use filters and supply bottled water. Water filters have been installed on classroom sinks, hallway water fountains, and the cafeteria fountain. The filters will be replaced as needed. We will continue to test the water and provide bottle water for an additional year to ensure the measures taken were adequate. It is our commitment that no students are exposed to lead in the drinking water. If you any questions, please contact PGCPS Division of Supporting Services at (301) 952-6500. If you have further questions regarding this response, please contact this office. Very truly yours,
